Aren't many of those kits currently being sold by Hobby Barn, but under a different name?

Nope, the company who produced the Royal/Marutaka line closed down. Check out the Hobby Barn ads, they aren't advertised anymore.

I stand corrected. The ad must have been a result of editorial lag. Or Hobby Barn never withdrew the ad.

I will vote for a Carl Goldberg Bucker Jungmann. Just my favorite and would buy one right now if I could find it. I have plans and might have to scratch build it.

Just got hold of one that would be nice to see back. The old Royal/Marakuta F-4 Phantom. The one I just was given is scratch built from the original kit plans, has an Enya 60 in it. The original plan holder built several, all with Enya 80s, and used to do inverted high speed passes over the far edge of our runway, often wearing away the tip of the fin. He supposedly had to rebuild the fins a couple times a year.

The gentleman I got the plane from cut the weight back by well over a pound by using gouges to hollow most of the blocks.

TopFlite Taurus
Aeromaster - although a laser cut kit (short kit) IS available out there http://lazer-works.com/misc.html
Pica 1/5 WACO YMF
Jr. Falcon & Skylane 42 - with the new electric motors, these might be a blast!
Sterling PT-17

Somebody with a laser cutter and the ability to repro these kits on an 'as-needed' basis is gonna pay for that laser in short order!

The Pica 1/5 Waco would be fantastic.

There is just nothing out there in this size, all the stuff I have come across is too big. Plans, kits, nothing... If anybody knows of any 1/5 info, please share it with the rest of us Waco-starved builders. Is there enough info to scratchbuild from the Pica plans?

Jim, the Goldberg Bucker is a great flying design. I've got another one half framed up. I believe that wing kits are still available from Goldberg models, and would scratch build the fuselage without the lite-ply for a bit more strength and less weight.

My vote would have to be to the sig Skybolt, I still am unsure why they would stop making a plane that flew as good as that. It was a bear to build but is was worth the work was'nt it?

I like that choice, even though on mine and the other guys, we had to replace the wire landing gear with aluminum struts cut from 2 Sig formed aluminum ones. The wire kept bending back on landing, nosing the planes over.

Mark,

There is no parts call out on the plan for the Pica WACO YMF 1/5th scale model. I have several kits (NIB) (10 or so) and I will be scanning the parts this winter. Once the parts are scanned, I will make them available (pdf format) at no charge to anyone who wants them. It is my intention to scale a kit up from these parts and plans (somewhere in the 1/4 scale range. Meanwhile, A few of us old die-hard purists have been gathering in the Antique/vintage forum, and there are several Pica 1/5th WACO's coming together there. Feel free to join in. I will do whatever I can to enable anyone to have one of these wonderful models (short of selling one of mine) So all of you WACO-starved builders, come on down.

Thanks, Bill. I definitely want to be on the list for a set of those pdf's, your efforts are very appreciated. I will also check out the build threads going on in the Antique forum and keep up with things there.
