I like the design. Looks much stronger than the stock one and definitely more adjustable. Put me down for two. The other part I would like are aluminum diff housing. It would eliminate the final weak point in the chassis, but that can wait till later. Not sure if anyone else would be interested or not.

Poor Judgment…

Point taken. How about this… I will only partly cut out the two end letters, allowing more strength in the part, but also allowing me to put my name on it. I will still cut the center letter, allowing the end user to have a place to route wires.

What do you guys think??

Yea, I like that, looks a lot more heavy duty, still got a hole to give the option of rear mounted battery cable routing, so fine by me.

Yea OK put me down for two,
Also Alvinl, whats wrong with diff housing? I would of thought some decent CVD's would have been a lot higher on the list.

There's nothing really wrong with the stock diff housing. Of the parts I have broken, the plastic diff housings have held up just fine. It's just the last plastic part holding the whole chassis together and I think it would finish stiffening the chassis up. You would then have a more ridgid chassis from shock tower to shock tower. Although, that little bit of flex may not be all bad. Also, you could then install aluminum suspension arms without fearing them breaking the diff housing. Good CVD's are DEFINITELY on my list, I am just not sure if that's something DrHonda could make or not. That's all.

The lack of aftermarket parts for the funfactors kind of puzzles me because companies like New Era make the aluminum upper and lower arms, but do not make stronger shock towers, CVD's, diff cups or even dogbones. It's like locking the doors and leaving the window open. I do not know how many of the funfactor trucks are in use, but I would think there was some kind of market for this stuff.

I am also considering 2-3 (one for spare) depending on the final price. Count me in DrHonda.

You know what, I'm in also. I would rather have these on the JT chassis than JTs' own. I'll take two.

Design looks good so far.
I will send the broken tower monday morning.

Are you going to be able to anodize the parts? If so the same color as the part I send will be fine.

OK… So the list so far:

Poor Judgment (2)
Rolland (2)
Alvinl (2)
Azzman (2)
PPacy (possibly 3)
Scouser (2)

Well… That’s enough to get this underway. It looks like the price will be US$20 each if buying two or more. For the people in the continental USA, shipping will be a fixed price of $3.50. For people outside of the USA, you will have to add actual shipping.(I will get a shipping price for you once I get an address) Also, if there is a group of people close together, I can combined shipping to help save a few dollars. (this is mostly for the people outside the USA) For ease of payment, I can take paypal.

The stock part is US$12.99… so this isn’t really that much more expensive, seeing that these towers are custom made in low quantities. And, this is much cheaper than the UK shop was going to make them for. As stated before, they will be cut out of 3.2mm, 6061 T6 alloy. This alloy is strong, but it won’t be brittle like the ones some of you are using now. The finish will be raw aluminum, but this alloy polishes by hand very easy with any metal polish. (I like “Mothers” metal polish)

So… that’s it. I’ll buy the raw materials I need to get started. I should have a cut prototype done in a few days. (to make sure my programs work properly)

Rolland…

Thanks. I will cover the shipping on your parts since you paid to ship the broken one to me.

Yes… I can get them anodized, but it will raise the price since I will have to send them out to be done. If you are willing to pay more… I will find out exactly what it will cost.

Hi Guys,

Just to give you an update. Tonight, I finalized my CNC program. And I started to do a “Setup” part. Most likely this one will be junk by the time it’s finished. But it lets me make a part holder (the aluminum plate behind the part) and see how everything is going to run.

Tomorrow night I have some personal obligations, so I probably won’t get anything done. But, Wednesday night, I should be able to report back to the group with a part in my hand. I also figure I’ll get the part from Rolland by then. If I get his broken shock tower… and I don’t have to change my Program… then I’ll probably be ready to ship next Monday

Just figured I’d share.

Hi Guys,

Well… The prototype is done. As soon as I get a stock part to compare the chassis holes… I can make the rest. If there is anything small you would like to see done… Let me know. Changing the CNC program isn’t trivial, but it’s still possible at this stage.

Just for your info… There are 2 separate fixture set ups. There are 4 tool changes. And, the machine runs for a total of 17 minutes. (but there is a lot of time in tool and fixture changes) There was suppose to be 5 tool changes… but I didn’t feel like putting in a tiny little end mill to clean up my logo.

Here’s a couple pics.

The rough cutting

The finish cutting

The finished part
