Thanks!

it could be the horns i guess, it did seem to be stearing backwards at one point but i think thats just cause the wind got it. nope i havent replaced the tail yet, im just waiting for an order of a new fuselage and canopy to come in, ill make sure i check those lines. i would be right in saying that moving the stick left SHOULD make the left flap go up? and roughly how high should i fly it? at the moment im trying to stick to tree height and under. i figured something was up with the stearing because it was flying straight ahead, i had full pitch controll, tried to turn but nothing actually happened it moved to the side slightly, but nowhere near enough to turn it, perhaps it was stalling?

Goose,

No, if you move the stick LEFT the RIGHT flap should go up and visa versa. As far as tree height, assuming you're talking something about 100 feet tall (sorry, in the 60's/70's we never leaned metrics ) that would be as low as I'd go until you feel like you have full control of the plane. 150 feet or higher would be better and give you more room to correct a problem.

You mention the plane not turning ... just going straight. Is that even when you move the stick all the way to one side or the other?

In regard to stalling, you might need to adjust your tail screws. If you look at the manual it will tell you how to adjust the tail screws if the plane tends to constantly go into a stall or dive. Once the plane is in a path that you can fly stright ahead for a couple hundred feet, if you let go of the stick completely the plane should fly somewhat level.

Keep 'er airbourne,

Walks

ahh that would explain so much!

i thought that was just the wind knocking it to the other side!!!! probbabbly wasent it stalling then that was causing the wobbling to the side.. and therefore the problems with it having a mind of its own, ill wait till i get it all fixed and then check all this out...corr such an obvious thing that would explain so much!

thanks a load! ill pop back in here when i get it all flying again and see if that solves the problems

I have about 20 flights with the PZ cub.. I moved up to the Aerobird Extreme....It is a big bird and a little scary at first. I used the normal mode and found it slugish and very hard to fly.. As soon as I switched to PRO mode it flew nice and responsive like the cub, only A LOT faster!!! I accidently flew it today on "normal" mode and fought it all the way down and had a poor handing..switched to "pro" mode and was able to fly and land it almost perfect. i would recommend you fly it in the pro mode right away for nice smooth response.. just give gentle inputs. I need to get it trimmed better--I can't get a nice loop--it falls out on me like a wing over--but i will get it yet 5 flights and one little nick in wing..bent landing gear a bit...VERY strong fuse compared to the egg shell foam of the pz p51 (long story )

gun--who learned tonight it is hard to see the ABX as it gets dark--

I have also recently purchased a aerobird Xtreme, and on the first take off, I forgot to attach the tail rubber bands thus resulting in a nose dive from about 10 feet, It didnt appear to to any damage. On closer inspection one of the servos was dead. Had to buy new fuse $$$ anyone know of any brand of servo I can use to replace the strange five wired thing currently used in the ABX. It also happend on the last crash from a great height an was entirely my fault.

Any information would be greatly apprecieated!!

When it was flying I was having a ball.

I've been flying the AeroBird Xtreme for a while, on my third fuselage. Original I crashed, second was interference, the controller completely cut out, so the darn thing plunged the 250 feet nosefirst into the ground. The bang was horrifying. The third, i threw it up, and the tail busted off in midflight. Smashed, again. I didn't want to spend the money for another, so I just built one out of the spare parts I had. the thing flys the best it ever did. I bought one of those superbatteries, which gives me ~40 minutes of flight time. One thing i've noticed is that the plastic clips that hold the control arms to the tail like to strip out, and the arm gets loose, letting the tail move as it pleases. I just took an aluminum sheet, punched a slot in it with a screwdriver, and slid the little square on there. Holds awesome. On the control arms, there are three holes. The higher the string from the fuselage is in the three holes, the more response you will get out of the plane. I just fly out in an alfalfa field, in the summer, there's nothing softer. I moved up from a Firebird Scout, which was a disappointment. The fuselage broke where the strings come out of the black tube. So... I took about a three inch by .25 inch aluminum V that I made from a driveway reflector and duct taped it to the fuselage. It flew good after that, until it found the wind that's above about 300 feet. eek! My dad has a Challenger 2 and my sister has a Challenger, both fly awesome. I reccomend a challenger 2 for any beginner.

A tip for anyone flying the AeroBird Xtreme: Take it easy. If you don't feel comfortable, don't fly. Once you get the hang of it, you'll feel more comfortable, and you'll fly in teh wind. Which is a ton of fun.

My favorite thing to do is just climb... and climb... and climb... and dive straight down, and kill the motor. You'll hear the propeller still, spinning from the speed. Pull up a little and punch it, and you'll be flying at probably around 40 miles per hour! It's the coolest thing ever to sweep the grass going that fast.
