Does anyone have plans or a kit for this airplane? I built one in 1970 with a set of "Never Fail Retract Langine Gear" built by, I think, Len Hudson from Houston. I had to do a square loop to get the nose gear down and locked. Ted sure could fly that airplane. Dwayne

Dwayne,

I'll have to dig it out, but RCM did a full spread on the El Gringo and produced the plans for it. Every time I read the article is was as though RCM never really wanted to give Ted White credit for having a wonderful airplane that was beating all the other "NAME" designers. I'll get into my "archives" tomorrow and give you a month/year on the RCM that featured the plane. There was an ARC kit of the EL Gringo and several people supplied foam wings for the plane which was originally balsa. It is certainly a unique airplane and needs to be kept around.

I don't know how good an airplane his El Gringo was, but he was the best RC pilot of that era. I really liked the Martin Baker M5 that he flew later.

I've been told that his son is a better pilot than he was. As far as I know he is still in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area. His only problem was having to do it "his way". He is an excellent pilot. I've got a set of plans that he gave me if I can find them. Dwayne
