Is it pronounced " si-toe" where the i is a long i as in biplane? Most pronounce it "say-toe".

I have both OS and Saito and I love them both. They are both dependable and good running engines. I have needed to adjust the vlaves on bith brands. I had an OS 40 that started to loose a few RPM's and sure enough the valve clearance had gone south. OS makes a valve adjusting kit for about 10 dollars and it was a snap to adjust them and my RPM's were back. It is just like Chevy's and Ford's, some like OS and some like Saito. Both are great engines in my book. Good Luck, Dave

I have been running 4 strokes for over 10 years and I have had YS, OS, Saito, thundertiger and magnum and they all needed valve adjusting after the first hours run on a new engine. I don't know why guys are so reluctant to adjust them. they are really easy to do and don't take that much time. It seems after the first time run on a new engine they don't need it any more after that much unless something comes loose., These engines will run oky without it but if you want the best performance from your engine you will have to do the valve adjustment. I am not all that mechanicaly inclined and If I can learn anyone can learn. I had a guy show me one time and it was so easy I had no trouble after that. I had a friend once that had a OS 70 and had flew it for 2 years without a valve adjustment and said it flew just fine, I convinced him to let me adjust his valves, took about 5 minutes to do and he couuld not believe the difference in the engines power after the valve adjustment.

Strange...when I first saw this thread, I thought it was a joke.

Imagine, "Saito engines, can I trust them?"

I can't think of an engine with a higher "user enthusiasm" index than these!

To answer your question, "yes".

Hi Navy18,

I have a Saito 100 in my H9 Miss America .60 Mustang. My Dad has a Saito 100 in his Funtana .90. He also has a Saito .91 in his Funtana .40. And, he has a Saito 180 in his Marie Mustang 1.50. All of these engines run great. I have never heard of Saito doing deadsticks. My Saito 100 isn't even broken-in properly and I still idle her at the limit. They have to be the best four-strokes. I Love Saito.

Regards,
mgruenba

Saito engines cannot be trusted under any circumstances. If anyone has one I suggest that they box them up and send them to me without delay.

I am prepared to accept these perfidious infernal combustion devices as a service to humanity.

Hey navy,I have been running saito engines since I started flying and will not run anything else.
I have a 1.50 that is ten years old and runs like new.
About valve adjustment,it is very easy to do and saito comes with the required tools for doing this,I have seen guys run four strokes without adjusting the valves and it will cause wear on the lobes of the camshaft,my 1.50 has at least thirty gallons of fuel run thru it.
What more could you ask for ?
I also have two 1.80s would'nt trade any of them for anything.
Only other engines I run are Desert Aircraft.
Hope I have helped you make up your mind, try a saito, you will love it !
