I have noticed that my "reliable..always watched closely" batteries in my TX and RX have shown abnormal volts compared to what I was always used to seeing. I charged the batteries.....checked them with my loaded digital voltmeter, but left them plugged into the charger. The charger is on a TIMER so the current WAS OFF. (in fact..I had pulled the timer out of the outlet this time) The batteries were at full charge. I checked them a little less than 24 hrs. later. They had dropped much more than I was used to seeing. EXAMPLE: My RX was at 5.35 volts and it had dropped to 4.90 volts. (about what I might see after 4 flights). My TX dropped to 85%+ on the meter, from it's "pegged" position!! My question is this..... Has
anyone out there experienced this problem with the Hobbico Muli-charger described above??
Is it possible for the current to "drain off, or back" through the charger due to design flaw, or a malfunction??? ... thanks ... lownslo

There are a number of charger systems that when disconnected from their power source will allow the batteries, if still connected, to discharge back into the charger.

And the Hobbico Multicharger and AccuCycle were one of them. I actually tested this a while ago, and found that they do take out a significant amount over the couse of a week or so. (Red, you might recall this, as I send you the findings in an e-mail about 2 or 3 years ago.

I routinely unplug all my batteries from chargers now if they are to be disconnected from the power sources.

Thanks to you both !!! I sort of thought that might be happening. It sure would help people out if the manufacturers would mention unplugging the battery if the power source is shut off. ....lownslo
