Covered in Ultracoat
OS 70 Surpass I
MA 13X6 K Series prop
Futaba receiver and S3004 servos
1650 mah NiMh battery

Even though the engine is really old, it was never run prior to going on
this plane. We ran it on the ground for a little break-in then flew it
rich.

SIG says 'nothing flies like a hog' and they may be right. The plane
required very little trimming and really just 'wants to fly.' I'm very
happy with it.

That's me holding the plane..... luckily the camera didn't break.

Astro Hogs are great flying planes. The first one I had was built from the kit and was lost due to a radio problem, cracked crystal or filter in the receiver as I recall. It flew so well I scratch built a second one from the plans. Both were done up in PT-19 color schemes powered by OS FS 70 Surpass. Second plane turned out a lot lighter due to using lighter wood. I've been thinking about a Hog Bipe, someday I'll build it.

Looks great. Makes me want to finish the Orion I started some 40 years ago! Suggest you add a pilot (or did he/she go for a stroll!)

My rx switch assembly is one of the big ones with built in charge jack. It was sort of an afterthought and the only place I could fit it (and still plug/unplug the charger) is really in the way of a pilot. I really wanted to find a pig figure of some sort to fly the plane, but one of my own choices hosed that idea.

That looks about as good as they come! The beauty is, when you get bored just order another wing kit and now you have a bipe! Nice work.

Outstanding job! Seeing that aircraft again really brings back the memories of my early
flying days. The Astro Hog was my first low winger. I ended up building two. One was powered
with an OS 90FS and the second one was powered with the 70FS. It is a great aircraft.

It's nice to see someone like yourself take the time and effort to build and the end result is
worth it.

I've got mine on the table now...wings are ready to sheet. Next, on to the Fuselage. Any tips for me on the build?

Nothing really, I had some small gaps in the sheeting of the
fuselage after I was finished. I used a good sandable balsa filler.

Just follow the manual and you should end up with a strong, stable
airframe.

I do try to get the pushrod guides for the rudder and elevators
installed along with the servos before I get too far along with
the sheeting of the fuselage.

Thanks for the input. Good advice re: pushrods!

Anyone else?
