I have another one new in the box with the upgraded metal gear and the super tires that will be listed in the classifieds tonight. I will take $310 shipped for it. The total for this from Cermark is $358.99 plus $24 shipping.

The version I have is more a low wing trainer. Thick chord, wing retracts, strip elevators, wing planform far from real F-16. It is not very fast yet very manouverable.
Where can I get this plane?

The new F-16 is a complete redesign. The plane is very scale in look. See my picture up a few of the Cermark F-16 and a real F-16 in the same pic. If I didn't tell you it would look like two real F-16s. I have never flown the older f-16 but what I have heard the new one flys much better and faster. The original plane is probably a fine plane, just not quite as good as the new one.

The F16 from HobbyZone is made my World Models. Can someone share info about performance of the World Models version compared to the Cermark F16??? Which Spring Air model did one of you guys use??? I have a set that came off the GP Tomcat from Sping Air that I hopw will fit nicely. I'm thinking of ordering one from Cermark, just wondering about the HobbyZone version...

I searched HobbyZone and did not see an F16. The only one that I am aware of would be the little electric F16 with the Thunderbirds scheme? Which, obviously is completely different. Please post a link, I would like to see the one you are referring to. I used Springair retracts. I dont know which model, but if the ones you have are 85degrees or 90 degrees, they will work. This F16 offers a pretty standard retract rail. They can be sanded to fit most retracts if needed. Just be sure to put the big wire on your retracts. Buy a few long piano wires 3/8, cut two 7 inch pieces, bend the end a little at a time and slide them into your retracts, you may need to bend several times to get just the right angle. It takes about ten minutes. Good Luck

I also have the little electric F-16. That thing is a rocket with a Speed 400 brushless and a 1300 MaH Battery. Its almost as much fun as the big one and a lot less to clean up.

Above link is for the HobbyZone F16, pan down to the bird and notice that the manufacturer listed is World Models.
I guess not many guys are aware of 2 different F16 available, or possible that Cermark and HobbyZone buy from the same supplier in China.

I have seen that site before, just forgot about it. It is the same F16. I was not aware that World Models made it. Or possibly they are just a distributor for Hobby-Zone, either way, it is the same airplane at the same cost.

I just picked up this ARF and I am testing it out as a new possible plane for our formation team. I would like to put a Jett up front, but I have concerns about noise, as we will be flying 4 of them at once. I also have seen lots of fuel leaks out of the front bearings of this engine, can anyone who is using this engine confirm or deny this for me? Has anyone checked the engine noise DB level of a Jett 90 with the standard muffler, and the appropriate prop for this model plane?

We also have concerns about fuel tank placement, as we plan to put a larger tank in so we can get longer flights, but it seems like putting a 18 oz tetra tank in the nose would make this a really nose heavy plane. Putting the tank at the CG will solve this, but it would require a pump. We're considering the Webra 120 pumped model, anyone ever try this engine out?

Who has flown this off of grass, anyone? What's the takeoff length? We're considering flaperons as a short field takeoff option, but I was wondering what this plane does out of the box first before we go ahead with any modifications. Thanks for your help!

The Jett SJ-90L with the stock jett-stream muffler - with a 12x6 APC at 14,500 rpm runs about 100 - 102db at 3 meters. It is not much different than an OS91FX with the standard muffler, turning at this same rpm.

Fuel should not 'leak' from the front bearing. The engine does provide for some fuel to travel to the front bearing for lubrication. It is rarely excessive, and this is quite normal. I am sure Rich, Mike and some of the SJ-90L owners can provide their own perspective on this.

Bob

Bob, although I wouldn't call it excesssive, I've noticed Jetts spit more fuel out the front bearing than other engines. I always thought it was because the front bearing doesn't have a shield on the outside like most sport engines.

As to the Tetra tanks, is that a bladder (bubbless) type tank? If so, I've been able to run them on the C.G. without the need of the pump.

Dave,

You are correct. They do pass fuel though the bearing more than other engines. But the reason had been to maintain above average bearing lubrication at the higher rpm's. It's pretty rare you find a worn or failed bearing on any of the engines.

Never the less, the concern over fuel spray did not go un-heeded.

The current 90L engines, both BSE-90L and SJ-90L versions, now have sealed bearings. Switch was made about a year ago.

EDIT ADDED: For existing Jett 90L owners who have the older open bearings and wish to eliminate the fuel bypass on the front bearing, Dub will give you one of the new sealed bearings (you have to install it though). Or the bearing can be changed any time the engine is sent in for warranty work or for general servicing. Anyone interested, email to Dub at jett2005@jettengineering.com or myself at rjb@jettengineering.com

I didn't know that Bob, I must have an old one

Some of my best racing engines tended to leak out the front a bit more. Never seemed to be a problem, but I did need to run a 6oz tank in one for fear of running out of fuel.
