Some one have the manual for the Ultra RC Giles 29%?

if so can you scan it and send it to my Mail, which is : guys2345@walla.com .

what I need to know is the CG location on the wing (normal, stable flight setting and the recommanded 3D settings)
, and, what is the distance of the engine from the Firewall so it would feet the cowl.

Thanks, Guy.

p.s attached are 2 pictures of my Giles,
what do you think about the color scheme?
the person I bought it from realy didn't like the scheme, and he it took it down when the plane was brand new
and put a new scheme, which I think is better looking...

the CG location in the manual has been updated!! what engine are you using? most gassers from 36 to 45+ cc's are balancing with the wing in the center @ 9" for the first flight then you decide, and for the glow 1.6 2c to 1.8 4c are with the gas tank all the way forward and the wing far back @ 91/2" (i think!!). hope this helps

The manual does not recommended a specific 3D setting but it does suggest a CG range of 7.87 - 9.84 inches (200 - 2500mm) measured from the leading edge.
I have flown the Giles with the CG located at 8.75 inches and at 10 inches and the plane was stable in flight at both. The 10-inch location requires that you be a little more alert during landings but it is great for 3D flight.

Does anyone know where I could buy a one piece fiberglass or aluminum landing gear for this aircraft?

Try this web site. I know of 2 gears here that will work. http://www.rcsupergear.com/index.php?pg=products

The Chip Hyde Double Vison and the Goldberg Sukoi will work just fine. I have a custom made gear I got off of Mr. Scale here in this post and it works very well. It is closer to the Goldberg Sukoi gear.

Good Luck

Awhile back I wrote about my discovery of the stabilizer becoming loose and movable on the fuselage. I finally got around to taking the stab halves off and I found that the fiberglass tube, when the carbon fiber tube was inserted, was able to move up and down a little bit. So, basically, the holes for the stab tube had developed some slop.

I have since epoxied the stab halves and tube onto the fuse. We'll see how it holds up like that. I never did contact Ultra R/C about it. It seemed to me that it would be easier to just fix it rather than await a response from them to take action.

Hi all....well...just picked up an ultra RC giles 202 (got a great deal 270.00 delivered!!!) Hopefully it will be in one piece

Anyway.......Was thinking of getting a Brillelli 36 for it. What do you guys think about this combination? Is this a good engine? and will it give me enough power for 3D?

This will be my first Gasser.......and actually my first 3D plane...besides an Efoamies mini revolution (which by the way is an incredible epp foamy to learn 3d on. I was hovering this little plane about a week after I got it.....now i can hover it right into my hands. ).

I would love to hear any other gas engine suggestions, especially if you have experience with them on this plane!!!

Cant wait to get my hands on this plane.

Thanks ahead to everyone for thier comments

Mike

Mike,

Hovering e-foamies and GAS 29% planes are in TWO different worlds....
From what I understand the B36 is a good match for this aircraft...

Please be careful because it will not fly like a foamy....

Walt...

thanks for the heads up Walt!!!

I totally understand.........Ive been flying for about 20 years (but mostly glow power - Lasers, King Cobra, Helicopters, and recently electrics - efoamies, brio), so I know that im not going to be able to just pick this plane up and perform 3D...... and I do not expect to be able to hover this thing like I can do with my e-foamy.

One of the main reasons I purchased this plane was because of the reports on how well it flies other than 3D stuff............It seems to have the best of both worlds........great flying plane that can do 3D.

So with that in mind, I want to try to install an engine that will have enough power for 3D....Then if/when my skills advance to that level, I will not have to make an engine change!!!

I was actually going to get the maxair velox rev II, but I couldnt pass up the deal on this plane (270.00 shipped)

Thanks again Walt for your input.
Mike

Guys234, I sent the manual last week by email, but I don't know if you received it. My email seems to be intermittent so let me know on here if you got it.
