Yeah, I remember there being several posts from people about that issue with the wing tube stops coming loose.

I glued my wing tube guides in the fuse before I ever flew it. I do think it is a great idea to have it adjustable BEFORE you fly the plane for the purpose of balancing without adding weight, but it needs to be permanently installed, I think.

I reported this same wing tube stop issue when I was building mine about 3 months ago here in this post. I gorrila glued my wing tube stops back in after they came loss when I was just trying to break-in my New Brillelli 36GT. I noticed one wing flapping in the breeze. I took off the canopy to find the wing tube had worked is way all the way from one wing into the other. I than gorrila clued the wing tube stops in place after I cut a hole in the wing to get to the area I needed. Once the stops where glued in place I CA'ed the carbon fiber rod in place and also drilled a small hole into the fiberglass wing tube canael and into the fiber wing tube itself. I than CA'ed a tooth pick into the hole so the wing tube could not move. I have about 2 dozen flights since than and everything is workin great.

Fernando:

The landing gear I got off of you is 100 times better than the landing gear that comes with the kit. I love the way it will absorbs the stress of landing so it does not inpack the fuselage.

well the wing tube stops come unglued in mid air and my guees is that the tube shipted to one side till the one thing holding the wing in place where the tiny bolts on the wing slider.

any way i had a lot of fun building and flying this plane the other wing is still at the field somewhere and i hope i find it before hurricane Dean lands, anyway make sure you figure something to keep the tube from moving side to side,
Fernando

here the pics

Mr. Scale,

So sorry for your loss. You started this thread and prob have had the Giles the longest.

I read your report and took a look at your pics. Based on what I see, the wing tube is still fixed on the one wing panel and extends far enough out to fit through the fuse and into the other wing. Are you sure movement of the wing tube was the cause? I only ask as I wonder if something else happened which may be the cause and we should look at.

Sorry again.....this is still my favorite plane.

Ryan

Fernando made them himself. I bought one off of him and it is a great LG for this plane. Maybe you can talk him into making one for you.

I've heard a few people say that on this thread, which is kind of disheartening.

When I ordered my Giles via the internet, I didn't get any kind of email confirmation. So, the next day, I called them, and they said they had no record of my order. I placed a new one over the phone, and then UPS brought me two Giles's!! It took a long time to get a response from them about the screw-up, but eventually they sent UPS to my door to pick it up free of charge.

Have you read Post #235 on page 12 in the ULTRA RC KATANA XTREME thread?
If any of this is true you may be out of luck until the mess gets settled.

I gave up on them after ordering a replacement canopy for my Giles. I finally got my canopy two weeks after they said they shipped it but their customer service was way lacking back then. That was like six months ago. To me it doesn't matter if you make the greatest product in the world. If you can't back it up, I ain't buying it. I still have my Giles and enjoy it very much but I wouldn't buy anything else from them unless they show major improvement in customer service. JMO

I don't think AMA can do a thing about it other than put some pressure on them and/or publish something in Model Aviation. The AMA, as an organization, probably has no say in what manufacturers sell or claim about their products.

It's too bad that Ultra-RC has not demonstrated the best service to its large customer base. Especially since so many people have been reading this thread, in particular, it's really their loss. Don't forget you can also order the Giles from OMP. They may provide some customer support for people as well or maybe they can get in touch with Ultra RC and get them to respond to your emails, Mr. Scale.
