Mr. Scale

Yes they are still on the market. OMP had them before Toledo and I purchased one at the Toledo show. I know some other folks did too.

RM, that is the way I planned to balance it until I got off the phone with OMP a couple of days ago. I was told not to worry about the balance just put the wing where I wanted it and go fly. So I'm seeking advice from those of you that are already flying yours to avoid an unnecessary mishap if you know what I mean...

Thanks again, this does help out, now back to the work bench...

I can understand why you'd want another one, it's a real 3D flying thrill giver. If you feel that your other one met it's end prematurely, just rush on out and get another one before they disappear. I know I would do that if I lost both of mine.
I believe you'll like the lighter weight trouble-free combination of the Giles and OS 1.60FX.

Just as part of my decision making process, the OS FS2.0 weighs the same as the OS 1.6 2 stroke but with a muffler and it is capable of turning a 20 inch prop and runs nicely on 10 to 15% nitro fuel. I won't know if I will use a 20 inch prop, but I have a suspicion I'm gonna take a real good look at how it performs with one. This puts the plane at the bottom of the light weight range and without the weight of a pitts muffler.

Hi Bob, I've also got an O.S.Max 2.0 to go into my Giles. I'll start with an 18x8 prop as that is what some of the engine's promoters seem to get the best results. I'm bummed a little hearing that a pumped version is coming out with a little more power?, but this one should be great with the lightweight Giles.

I'll be starting with an 18X8 also as its the benchmark prop for the plane and will give a good idea of just how much more power the FS200 has. I wouldn't be bummed about the motor with a pump. You can always put a pump on it for next to nothing. But the motor has so much more power than the airplane needs that I think its a moot point. The quick throttle response is more important to me than squeezing out a few hundred more rpm when the plane already has enough power to do anything you would want it to. To be able to do it with the least complexity is to me the best world to be in. I mean you could always pump it and put a pipe on it, but why when you are already so overpowered? I prefer to over power with as much simplicity as possible. I was going to use a Mark 1.8 or 2.2 but the guys who use em tell me they don't draw well and need a pump. Just one more thing to figure out and to go wrong. When I go fly I want to fly not fool around. I've watched people fool around. They wind up flying 3 or 4 flights a day. I usually fly at least 10 to 12 a day. When I go fly, I just don't like spending time messing with things. I don't get enough time to fly so reliability is what I look for. But I'm also a strong believer that most problems are most easily solved with just more power. So I try to overpower everything at least one class of engine size. If it says .40 it gets a .72. If it says .60 it gets a .90. If you go back and read the entire thread you'll find the FS200 gives more power than motors people have said the plane is stupendous on.

Quick question for the guys who have done the major gear mod using a mounting plate and carbon gear: Anyone who ever did it have a trashed landing that trashed the fues or no?

Question for everyone.......

The kit includes a pull pull for the rudder. with the pull/pull a servo horn attachement is included, and the holes in the horn are off center.

My questions are:

1. do i need to use a servo horn attachement that has off center holes?? or can i use a strait one?
2. if needs to be off center, how to attach the horn attachement to my servo horn, and to make sure it is centered?
3. Should i throw away and get aftermarket servo horns? if so what kind?
4. for the pull pull.....do i cross the wires???
Thanks,

1 - I used the horn included in the kit and it seems to have the right geometry.
2 - I used medium CA and two small screws that were included in the kit and glued it to the round horn included with my servo. Has held fine for one season. Just roughen up both surfaces before gluing.
3 - If you want.
4 - I did. Like everything in this hobby it depends on who you talk to.

Hope this helps,
Greg

Now I have some questions. I reinforced my gear with carbon tubes, but yesterday the whole gear tore through the side of the plane when I dropped the plane onto the runway from about 1/2 a foot up. So.....

- Has anyone had any problems with the F90 graphtech gear?
- Did you get the tall version or the short version of the F90 gear?
- Has anybody tried the gear from the Funtana 100? It's lighter and half the price, but I'm worried about it holding up.
- Has anybody had problems with other areas of the fuse breaking after installing a gear plate and conventional gear?

Thanks!
Greg

not ot get off the subject....i finally got all the stuff needed to complete her. ok im still waiting on the engine (its on order) things are going welll so far...ok mabe not the question i got is on the pull/pull when i go full deflection to the right the cables get loose @ about 40deg. there tight untill then ..heres the crazy part ...left rudder they stay tight till the end of the spectrum.. i used the servo horn that came w/ the hitec 5645.. every thing looks the same so why is that happening...i've rechecked everything ?? although this is the first pull/pull sys.i've had ..confused in michigan...

This was address early on in the thread. It is not a problem. A geometry thing. Crossing the two cables helps but its the pull line that is taking all the load. Its not uncommon in pull pulls.
