Nice Job Chris!

There is no doubt that you are going to have a hard time keeping this plane in stock-- It is just the right weight for my favorite glow motor(os 1.6) and I think it will fit in the car. Nice, Very nice

Guys,

I emailed Ultra R/C the other day about the possability of an alternate scheme and got the following response. I have to say I like the way these folks do business!

Bryan,

Thank you for your interest in Ultra-RC and our 29% Giles 202. In regards to your comments, thank you for your support. Regarding the covering scheme, I have seen the posts on RCUniverse and understand there are some that are not thrilled with it. Our current production is just about complete. I will make an effort to get some with a more conservative scheme, or all white. I will let you know if this is possible. I most certainly can make arrangements for the next production to contain these versions. Have you seen the video we posted today of Chris Maier flying the Giles? Here is the link: http://www.ultrarc.com/videos/Giles202UL.wmv Thank you again for your interest and support. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any additional comment or questions. Speak with you soon.

Sincerely,

Ultra-RC
Brian Hughes

Guys I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the look of the Giles but this one is VERY quickly changing my opinion on the plane. After watching that video and virtually studying it like I always do with planes I am considering owning it is obvious that this is going to be one of the greatest additions coming to anyone's hanger! I'm loving it!!!! Now where to find that illusive easy to rob bank to grab a couple of servos and a bigger engine than what I'm used to

At first I didn't like the look of the plane either, but it looks FABULOUS in the video. The busy color scheme actually blends together and is different enough from the bottom that it will be easy to determine right side up vs. upside down.

My birthday is coming up, maybe I have my present already picked out. Now if I can just convince my wife...

Chris,

Let me reitterate again how impressed I am with your flying (as well as with the Giles also).

Snap roll on take off
Perfectly straight (seems like it) 4 and 8 point turns
Precisse positive and negative snap roll
Nice clean uplines and downlines
AND 3D to boot complete with the hovering, torqing, harriers, slow KE passes, blenders, waterfall, KE spins

Most other 3D videos I see out there are just about hovering and torqing... booooring. Not so with this one. Got a very nice repetoire. Definitely plenty of tricks in the bag.

Looking forward to mroe videos

Guys,

I didn't have much time to comment on the video when I posted the email response I received from Brian Hughes at Ultra R/C. Now that I have seen the video I'm like the rest of you. I think this plane flys sweet! The best lightweight flyer I have seen since the Extreme Flight 68" Yak came out. Maybe even a little better.

I like the fact that it is a little bigger than the EF Yak because it offers the opportunity to start off with a glow engine and save up for a gasser later. The covering scheme, although still not high on my list, does look better in the video than in the pics.

Hey All, YA buddy - this is one totally awesome plane for sure !! Much congrads to Brian and all who designed and made it all happen. I actually got a chance to fly this sweet / awesome machine for a few minutes the other day - and like all have said WOW - it flys like a big foamy !!!! YEP IT SURE DOES !! Just totally amazing and then some ! I am more of a FUN FLY kinda of guy - just a mild 3D flyer (I taught Chris all he knows of course - I'm his DAD) and this plane is just superb for both - and precision too !
Just a total blast and makes a lot of 3D manuvers pretty easy. I can hover and T/R it till the sun goes down and it really is pretty esay - it will almost hover hands off for a long time - GREAT DESIGN !! So, what can I say ? NADA - just amazing and totally awesome !!
I'd love to do an electric version of this bugger - but I love the sweet aroma of fuel and castor to much !

Here is a pic of Chris, me and my father Fred at the XFC - this may be one of the reasons Chris is such a good flyer - modeling is in his blood / he is a proud 3rd generation modeler ! Keep up the good work lil buddy and keep thanking the Lord for your talents !! Keep havin FUN and fly SAFE !! RAMROD

Ramrod, Nice Picture. You are very fortunate to be able to share the hobby with your Son and Father.

I am a big fan of Chris and the Ultimate 3D video has made my flying all the more enjoyable (wish they would make a part 2). http://www.jpmediainc.net/ultimate3d.html

If I understand this correct....?

1) This plane has rear horizontal stabs that remove easily?

2) This plane has landing gear that removes easily?

Can someone explain this a bit for me? Thanks
