Well I got my cowl today from Fiberglass Specialties. On their website it stated that it takes 7-10 days for the cowl to be built but they must have had one already laying around. I ordered it on saturday afternoon so it only took 5 days total.

When I ordered mine he said they keep that one in stock; apparently it's a popular model for them.

My Goldberg kit came with the 'Spectra glass' cowl and belly pan and they are of excellent quality. I think the fiberglass parts and the hobby shop 50% clearance sale sold me on the purchase .

I've noticed a few times on ebay people have been selling the goldberg suk with the spectra glass cowl and pan. There was a few yr period i've heard that they included that with the kit.

Has anyone had luck reinforcing the ABS parts?

well I reinforced the ABS parts behind where all of the screws mount. I didn't have any cracks form near any of the screw holes. I think the only way to make his cowl last though would be to reinforce the entire cowl. Much easier for me to just get the fiberglass one.

Its been a bit of a struggle with this kit for me on account of the poor parts fit and wood quality. But I have managed to soldier on and this is where I am at.

I chose to go with the Honda Dream Team livery. I’m about halfway through with the trim. Its still short of the Honda and Road Angel logos and the painting of the cowl.

I’m using an MVVS 26 up front with a tuned pipe for power. The pipe is not scale but I like the additional 1 hp it provides.

There wasn’t enough space up on the nose area to install a kill/choke servo so I made up a kill switch using a micro switch and mounted it in the mid section of the plane, where there is plenty of space to fit the ignition battery pack and the kill switch.

Cool scheme bro, I done that exact scheme on mine, now about a year old. The best flying plane I own. Sooo light. Eg Yeasterday I ran outta fuel inverted at 20 feet, and I survived easily, just rolled her over and wheeled her round for a perfect touch down, most ather planes would have snapped in with my ham fistedness, absolutely the airplane makes me look better.
Power is a ST G2300, good engine never quits, unless I enjoy flying for to long.

i will probably run a gas engine but am new to those so i'll be researching as much as i can on which type, size, etc.

That looks good Matt, gas engine should be insane

I've been thinking how much I miss my Sukhoi lately, if I come across another kit, I'm sure I'll buy it

The best tip I can offer, get her built and get her in the air. Even built stock this Sukhoi flies very well.

I'm actually looking at a 27% SU26 It has been built from enlarged plans of the Goldberg, foam wing and stab and fiberglass cowl/belly pan. May look into one of those DL50's for it! Not sure I want to buy an already built plane though! I love building

Cranbrook, great area, we were in Nelson from 1975 until the early 90's!
Enjoy the Sukhoi
