Is there a reason behind keeping them flat? I made mine pretty basic Just rounded them to the rib and then rounded slightly.

Are you going with one elevator servo or two?

Thanks for the interesting info on you CG Sukhoi. Am about to start one myself and have a question concerning engine cooling.Do the holes shown in the bottom of the cowl and belly pan enough allow enough air flow for an engine in the 1.20 four stroke size? Thanks for any info from any and all.

Parks Sorry I do not have an answer for you I am not that far.

I have some questions for you guys. I am getting to the point where I need some advice.

Ailrons... First I was thinking of upgrading the Hardware for the control surfaces. I am not farmiliar with what I should use for this size plane what should I purchase? Is the stock Good? Second I was thinking of beefing up the ply of the hardware surface mount. Do you think this is required? I did make them longer as I was thinking but only to the rib before the fuse not to the fuse.

Gear... I want to get that completed. What kind of breakaway bolts are you going to use? I would assume that anything will work however I am courous again what is the best. Are you doing Carbon fiber gear? I would like to, Do you know where I can get some? How about wheels. I need some as they did not come with the kit. Rubber, Foam? Thoughts?

My Nova has the solid rod running back for the elevator. I am not a fan of it. What are options I can consider to replace it? Any recomentations for the rudder and elevator hardware?

Pics are posted of the repair of the engin box. Lots of epoxy... I also posted some of where I beefed up the wing mount and the motor mount tri-stock in the inner corners.

Matt, does this airplane have the servo's mounted in the fuse above the wing? You may want to consider moving the servos to the rear of the fuselage and mounting them externally. You would have to run servo extensions but you would not have to worry about long lengths of pushrods. Next time you are out at the field, check out Pete's U-Can-Do, he has a really slick carbon fiber pushrod set up on the plane. If you e-mail him I'm sure he'd be happy to help

The Manul gives you the option of under the wing or in back. Under the wing is one servo and in the back two servo's. I have do not know which way to go. It sounds as if the rear double servo's would be the best for tork response and vibration plus it eliminates that stupid Y rod.

Progress Report. The motor mount is in, the ailarons are ready to be sanded and installed and I am ready to mount the elevator on to the fuse. I will post when they are attached.

Bruening do you have suggestions for the type of hardware for the control surfaces?

Nice... I was looking at those or something similar at MTH the other day. Would you agree with Greyhound on the servo's I am going to order them this week. Wifes going to kill me but I figure she will not find out till after x-mas.

What have you got in the basement?

Here is the build status. I have got the Stab and rudder mounted. Went Really really smooth. No leveling or upright adjustment at all. Just spend that time at the begining getting the fuse square and it corrects everything else as you go... Got to love it. Here are some Pics.

I am still looking for brand suggestions for the following:

Carbon Fiber Landing Gear 17"
Wheels 3 1/2"
Muffler For ST90 (In Cowl?)
Rudder Control surfaces (Pull Pull)

Check out tnt landing gear, they may have something

Check Mark Twain for wheels, any decent 3 1/2 wheel will work, Trent and all those guys use the dubro wheels, stay away from the foam wheels for an aircraft this size, use the rubber ones

Check tower hobbies for a muffler, look atthe slimline pitts series

Dubro or Hanger 9 pull pull

Did you get #194 Gear? 45 bucks? TNT sends you to GraphtechRC for the sukhoi. Too Funny.
I checked out the Hightech Servos I did not check the price of the package but they are 5 bucks more per servo for less performance Torq and speed. What is more reliable JR or Hightech?

Yes, I think it was the #194 gear. Unless you are using a large 4 stroke and need the gound clearance you might want to use the stock alum gear.
The Graphtech carbon are very tall and tend to pop off on a not so good landing. I have gone from 2 to 3 1/4 nylon screws and still had the gear pop off on a dead stick (flew the tank dry). To slow and pancaked, no damage except to the cowl and muffler on the YS 140.
I would recomend your maiden flight be with out the belly pan. If the gear come off the belly pan is history.

Quite honestly that is why I want the Carbon fiber gear is because the aluminum is so friggen heavy and I have a 90 to put on the plane. I want to cut weight and that is a huge weight on the package. Couple questions do you have the ABS or fiberglass bellypan? Why is your gear coming off? I though it would be the same or similar to the stock, are you using blind nuts with those screws? Is yours a wing attach gear or a fuse attach gear? Thanks for the warning Dennis.

Well Final sanding has begun. Time to think about covering any suggestions? I think I am going to order the Fiberglass Stuff Cowl and belly pan.

Hughes Is there a reason you did not go with Stans? How much was it?
