Hey, maybe its just mine

This is what I am going to do, you can see it looks alright, still have to build the other side. From inside the canpy I am going to use the built up edge for effect!

what's the problem? It looks like it fits? Is it because the "frame" does not line up with the cockpit sides?

Hughes, you got your last post up while I was typing mine, your improvisation looks good. I think Ballistic Insanity is just going to paint his black after painting the "frame" yellow so it matches

He would be better off painting the entire canopy a solid color. Can't believe CG would have done such a thing. Will have to view some scale drawings !

So it's official, the new canopy is exactly the same as the old one

I truly hope this Sukhoi is worth all the aggrevation ! Now I'm going to have to build a cockpit with sides and roll bars
How come no one else has ran across this? GGrrr

Don't go blaming Goldberg for your mistake. You didn't look at the plans and find the very faint trim line on your canopy. It doesn't trim where you think it does. Get another one and try again.

GGGrrrrr, you have not much experience do you?
As I mentioned the canopy trim line is lower than the frame....... find another puddle!

Dude! I can see from your pictures that you missed the marks big time. The only thing that I lack experience wise is how to be a wise guy.

Go look at the trimmings from your canopy(ies) and hold them up to the light. You should be able to see the trim lines in the same locations as shown on the plans. I haven't finished trimming out my canopy yet, mostly because the trim lines are so hard to see. When I get it done I will take a picture and post it. I don't anticipate any fit up problems.

I spend more time thinking about working on my models than I do working on them. I don't like to make mistakes, but they still seem to happen once in a while. As for my experience, I have been designing, building and flying models for 25 years. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. I am a craftsman by trade, with 20 years experience in building wind tunnel models of all sorts, and some of those being remote control free flight models. Some of those models are full scale and some as small as 1/100th scale. I have build models of things you won't see in the open for another 10 years, and some things that people will never see. The F-22 Raptor is a good example of the types of models I have built. So is the JSF, F-117, C-17, Comanche, BWB, NASP, and SSTO. Not to mention the FA-18E/F, X-29, X-31 and X-34. Those a just a few I can remember off the top of my head.

I will forgive you, look closer at my pictures I guess it would depend on how scale you build. Having the "frame" an inch above the fuse is just not acceptable, even if it is judged at 5 feet!

I see a mistake, I point out the mistake, I give an example to fix, that's all.

Looking forward to view pictures of other fixes! CG buggered this up!

Here is the built up fuse to get a closer scale looking finish on the canopy. As noted the canopy is trimmed in the wrong spot to get the right look LOL......

Also posted is the full scale Sukhoi's canopy.

I trimmed my canopy today at work, brought it home, and put it on. Fits perfect. The area below the frame does the same thing as the area that you had to build up on yours. If you had not cut it off, you could just glue it on and paint it to make it look exactly like what you will have. The reason goldberg did this is to give us modelers some area to glue to. I have at least 1/4 inch all the way around to glue the canopy to the fuselage. In the front, there is more like 3/4 of an inch. I'm not going to post any pics till I get finished with the whole thing, unless someone really needs me to.

You know what would be really cool, if someone cut the canopy to open like the full scale
That would be tough but not impossible. I also seen a few pictures of an SU26 with wheel pants. Looked very attractive!
Anyone think about that?

Yep - this is the one I'm going to model.
BTW, I really think your canopy looks better than the stock configuration.
