Hey guys

I just noticed that my antenna wire was cut in half during a bash last night at the local park. I went back searching for the other half without any luck. I just started the truck and noticed that it would glitch as it proceeded down to bout 100ft away. What can I do to get controls back to normal? I don't want to buy a new reciever.

I was thinking of cutting the wire from the previous receiver and soldering it to this antenna. Can I pick up anything at Radio Shack? The controller I am now using is an M8.

thnx

RadioCrap has some 22(?) gauge wire in a 5 or 10 ft roll.
This wire is sortof too thick.

Be gentle opening up your receiver, because the plastic tabs that hold it all together are kinda fragile.

I desoldered my old wire (which i had repaired by soldering on new bits 3 different times) and stuck in a new one, easy as pie.

The main trouble I had was with the fatty radiocrap wire not fitting in the groove for the thinner stock wire. A bit of squeezing made it fit, but if you can, find the proper gauge wire.

p.s. weren't you using an antenna tube? I only use bright neon colored tubes after not being able to find the remains of my antenna on more than one occassion. and neon green belnds into grass surprisingly well.

You can replace the wire with any 28 gauge standed wire. The stock ant wire is about 36-38 inches long.

Just make sure it is stranded and not solid wire.

just a home made job my buddy and i came up with is...put a random screw in the radio box and wrap the remaining antenna around it then we got copper wire and ran it around the screw and threw the antenna tube. since we figured this would happen again and again the screw seemed pretty easy solution.

When I started making my Savage more race-worthy, I cut the antenna tube down to about four inches long, pulled the wire all the way through, wrapped it down around the tube and held it there with a small zip-tie. Now, it does not stick out of the body at all....looks cool, too.

Since then, I have not noticed a decline in range, but at the same time I race (I try, anyway ) on a track and I don't need to be more than 50 feet away. The wire itself is the same length, so range may not be affected by wrapping it.
