Hello all,
If you were gong to replace the Mach .26 engine, what would be your choice for a replacement.
Looking for ease of replacement, similar power, ease of tuning and most of all, reliability...
Thanks....

I'd replace it with another MACH .26 ~ The price is right. Or if you just need a rebuild, new piston and sleeve...

For a good cheap replacement with good low-end power the SH .28 is a good engine and uses the Mach .26 rotostart backplate For flat-out power the Collari .30 is the bomb!

Yeah like dowa said though - the Mach .26 is a great engine Buy a SportWerks .26 and get the upgraded carb along with it!

In the future, I would agree with dOWa and go for another mach... but with all the current problems I have been seeing, you might want to steer clear of them for the moment. If money were no object, I would say go with the Sirio .27 racing engine (3.1hp), as from what I understand, everything, including the stock clutch will bolt right on. Otherwise, you should probably consider the Collari .30. There are some slight modifications that need to be made to get it to fit, but lots of LST owners are using it, and it's relatively inexpensive - I think around $200. Whereas the Sirio is over 3 bills. If you go with another mach, make sure that you put it in the truck right away, and break it in asap so that if it is a bad one, you can get a replacement (3 month warranty I think).

I can't wait to either break my Mach (2+ gallons and perfectly strong - used heat cycling - had the washer, but I removed it & sealed the engine before the 1st start), or kill my SH (in my Savage and quite worn...or air leaking at the moment) to get a Collari for the LST. The un-dead engine will go into the Savage. In the past, the Savage (Though not nearly as stable as my LST) will quickly outrun (When it did run properly) the LST in a Drag race.

So my vote is a 2 thumbs up for the Collari (and the larger tooth pinions to use the extra power/speed).

Probably the Mach or Sportwerks...it has a very usable powerband and is well suited to the truck on a track.

I mainly bash and need to be faster than my Bash buddies...hence my initial Collari choice.

If you are going with the collari hobbieguyRC.com has them with roto start for $199. I have one in one of my LST's and it screams. But I put a sportswerks carb with 9mm insert and a jammin pipe on the other one (mach .26) and it's just as fast and the upgrade is under $100 .I have a envy racing cluch and RDLogics pipe(had this pipe on the mach for awhile) on the collari. I know they wont let you race with that pipe on a mach but it gives the mach more power so if you are wanting to race you need to check and see what the rules are at your track

P.S. I've heard that the Novarossi .28 8 port. is a awsome engine (I'm thicking about getting one).

Well I finally got to do breakin on the Picco yesterday and so far I'm VERY impressed. Fired up on the first pull and has yet to take more than 3 pulls to start. I've always regarded breakin as something evil that has to be endured to have decent fun later, but with this engine it's been no problem at all. Even with it still rich and in the breakin process it has some serious power. I can't wait to start getting it tuned this afternoon.

So the Sirio .27 basically bolts in? What mods are needed to make the collari fit?

Not sure how much I enjoy the LST so far. Within a couple of runs of breaking it in, the hex nut failed and my wheel flew off...took me forever to get replacement bearings. Now that I have em in, I can't get the engine to fire up. Replaced the glow plug thinking that was the problem. But it looks as though the engine is not getting any fuel, i.e. the fuel isn't going up the line from the tank into the engine. Seems to prime fine when I hold the fuel line in my hand and away from the engine, but it won't go when I hook the line up the engine. So, if I'm going to take the thing apart to fool with the engine anyway, might as well go with another engine.

To get the Collari hooked up I had to do some grinding on the exhaust manifold flange to get it past the roto start housing, and I'm using two gaskets a small one inside a big block one. You may have to shim the flywheel. I did, but I put a envy clutch on it (it fit the Mach so I'm thinking shim). Now it has a RDLogics pipe and had to mod the manifold too. It worth it the thing is fast, lot's of power. good luck....... Ben.

I just got a new LST and soon as I fired the engine up it started spiting fuel everywere. I took it apart and saw there was a huge hole right in the side off the crankcase. The manufacture said it would take two weeks to get the motor fixed.I just couldn't wait that long so I went and bought a new wasp.28. this is awesome and has plenty of power. i'm going to put the mach .26 in my revo and see how many parts I can break.
