PS- I put a ribbon back on the end of my antenna, so I can see what the wind is doing

Ribbon on the antenna? Isnt that for those "Frequency Concerned" fliers out there? I have always flown 2.4 gig, so that ribbon and freq card seem to be more of a hassle and annoyence to me. Especially here in Kansas where the wind is ALWAYS blowing so bad that all you hear is ribbons snapping in the air.

The ribbon on the end of the antenna act as like a mini wind direction indicator. That way you don't have to take your eyes off the plane to turn around and look at the windsock. But with the stubby antennae of the 2.4 systems it may not work as well.

Purhaps I could attatch a piece of ribbon to the tail of my plane Then I can tell what direction its going! It could reallt be confusing if your late in your approach and find that you actually came in backwards! That would REALLY screw with the aerodynamics of the plane. In fact, that would almost make the droops act as flaps. Scary scary SCARY thoughts!!!

For those not so speedy in the thinker.... yes, Im kidding

Im going to head out agian tomarrow and see how much fuel I can burn. I never thought about how fast a gallow can go away when you flying, or trying to fly, multiple birds. I wish I caould fly and take pictures myself, but like looking at the windsock, thats a little too dangerous.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest.

With 3 days of perfection, and nothing to do but fly..... Im going to have to take a case of fuel to get me thru the weekend. WOOHOO!!

Nothing yet. They got it thursday, so im going to call them maybe monday or tuesday and see if they have had a chance to look at it. I got a bonus from work so im really thinking about getting the nexstar if horizon replaces my fly away mustang. If they dont im going to have to buy a arf and fix it.

Using the DX6i will require you to make a change to the wiring setup for the battery/on-off switch. The stock one will not work or bind with the AR6200 system. Try to find an MPI switch with exterior charge plug that is made for JR radios. You will need to modify the hole where it will mount by making the stock hole bigger. Make sure you have a female bind plug. That way you can bind from the outside without removing the wing and charge the battery from the outside too.

Let me know if I can help you out. I can give you the part number if you need it.

Here are 2 options to solve the issues previously mentioned. The Russian was talking about a part similar to the first image. I like the second solution better. Its a little bigger, and heavier. But for the PTS its hardly going to effect it anything. The all-in-oneness makes the radio compartment a lot cleaner, lots less wires.

BTW.. the first image isnt of a PTS

The second one was exactly what I was talking about. I have the same one and it works great.

I have both systems. The one in the first photo is similar to what I have on my PTS P-51, the second is the one I now prefer, and use for my other planes. They both work just fine, but #2 is a lot cleaner looking.

Picture one is wat I have on my PTS Mustang, but the power and charge ports are on opposite sides. This is what I have on my .60 Mustang, and same configuration on my giant scale planes. Im going to switch to the combined switch/charge on all planes next winter.

Beautiful day here and nobody around to fly GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR My instructor is a farmer and its a busy time of year for him and I understand that.I have a few days off work next week and I hope we can get together sometime during that period and get the P-51 up in the air .
I guess I'll wait a little bit and go fly my park flyer supercub , I haven't had that inthe air yet this year and I know its not a P-51 at least its better than sittin here watching the dandilions grow .
We don't get days like this too often during the spring , seems a shame to waste it .

Well , I went out to fly my little hobby zone supercub tonite . It was a nice evening b ut really a little to windy for my poor little foamy supercub It took off just fine but once it was up inthe air a little ways (say 50 ft) it really had a hard time battling the wind . Up wind it hung there like a seagull and down wind it took off like a jet LOL The last flight I allmost lost here when I turn and went downwind . A big gust came up and before you know it she was ALMOST out of range . I was just lucky that the wind died off a little and I was able to turn her around and get her headed back towards me . She was headed for a cow pasture with alot of swampy area by a small river. I didn't want to go after her . BUT I took it as a omen . I landed her and decided to call it a nite . I guess you could say I WON LOL.
Not much else happening ..MAN the weekends go fast

Almost perfect day here today. I took 3 planes to the field and only had damage to one. The the first plane, added in-flight to the PTS equals the 2nd image.

Long story short... I dont know where the P38 came from, but I flew thru the fusalage and too about 1/3 of its wing. It was spread out over maybe 75 feet. I recovered my plane and made a small pattern but noticed a bad pull to the right, so it hobbled in with the pictured wind damage. It actually flew amazingly well considering the impact. I was pretty much wide open on a downwind to left base when it happened. Just one more bit of proof that this thing is build strong. Yest, the P38 is a foam plane, but the fusalage is about 6 in diameter...... it sounded like I his a brick wall.
