hehehe like the prop idea !

    but seriously now,

    this would be possible:
    F 82 Mustang.

I probably have almost enough left over parts to try it.

    hmmmmm, very do-able.....

Ewwww, I knew that you were just a tad bit off your rocker but that is full blown crazy uh, I mean COOL-VERY COOL! You doing stuff like that and helping others is why eveyone on this thread likes you CCR.
Ok, put out the deck of cards - you certainly have the pieces and lets see what kind of hand you come up with. If you do that it would be very interesting indeed!

If I'm not mistaken, NitroPlanes offers the P-82 in an ARF. Just thought that I'd throw that out there.............
    Cheers! BH

hehehe yeah, but I need to used up all the "left over" bits

I think that is this winters project for sure, fly the heck outa #3 this summer, it needs to be recovered soon anyway,
then of to the laboratory to create Frankenstein.

    Hey Jeff.
No rain ( couple quick showers ) around here, but the winds are nuts. 15-20 steady w/ gusts to 35+ everyday, but coming from every direction.
Your probably right, need that snow gone from the mountians before it'll settle down. grrrrr

    Glenn

On the washout issue, I was simply pointing out the PTS has the wing optimized for it's purposeto be a trainer, and then allow one to progress to sport flying-and landing.

As to the warping of the wings or poor build up, I have not seen that yet with the 10 or 15 PTS P-51's flown at clubs I belong to over the last 2 1/2 years since it came out. I have seen 5 or 6 of them crash for various reasons-caused usually by stick yanking, engine conk or poor setup.

On the H-9 60 size planes, I was passing along opinions stated by many others as to their handling as compared to CMP, KMP, some Top Flite and other "scale" ARFs. Yes, they are not nearly trainers. It does seem that the H-9 60 size ARFs have a tendency to noseover easily on grass fields. I have the 60 size Spit that I bought only because it offered flaps, so hot landings on a rough field wouldn't be an issue.

I maidened my NitroPlanes 60 P51 last weekend.... It did seem a little nose heavy on the ground, and seemed that way at idle too, but once I gas it a little gas it flew normal. It flew pretty stable at low speed I thought, with little to no tendancy to drop a wing on landing. I was trying to go as slow as I could as the poor thing has REALLY small tires on it. Far too small for rough grass.

I just got my P-51 PTS and started to put it all together and noticed that I got the old one with the 5 channel transmitter, is their anything else they changed besides the transmitter? I called horizon and they said to send it in and they would replace it with the 6 channel one they advertise. Just didnt know if their was anything else that I need to complain about or even replace the whole box.
    Thanks
    J.R.

P.S. this is my first balsa, covered, glow :P and the covering on it is horrid!!!! I paid 400 bucks for this thing it should be mint but I have heard this is common can anyone point me to a good guide to get rid of all the wrinkles? I want it to look nice and perfect atleast once.

CCR, the wind is doing really crazy stuff here too. I went float flying sunday and one second the river was glass, the next minute the wind was coming from all directions. The seamaster didn't fair too well in those conditions and I almost lost it in a 4 point roll !! I have a new extra 260 from EFlight and have only gotten to fly it for 1 day. GGGRRRR backatcha!

    JR,
Wrinkles can be a problem in almost any ARF. It is caused by fluctuations in heat and humidity. Just take a heat gun on medium to low and point it at the covering. NOT TOO CLOSE THOUGH - you can burn a hole in it right away. Then as you see it tightening up, just chase it. Kindof hard to explain but you will know what i mean when you do it. Not all coverings are the same, some take alot of heat and some barely take any. Also, when I get a new ARF, I go around the edges with my iron to seal them up and make sure that they are really attached at the seams before I take the heat gun to them. I hope that this helps you, I, like you have to have something new looking like it is in mint condition too - I like my stuff all clean and pretty.

I did the "maiden" flight tonite. Those of you that have read about my previous "maiden flight " that ended in a "fly away". Well the P51/2 flew beautifully. I'm not kidding you, I was shakin like leaf . All I could think of was a repeat of last time and the last thing I saw was my P-51 going inverted over distant woodline , not to be seen again for 3 months .
My instructor showed up at about 5 pm and I already had 3 or 4 flights in on my Nexstar. Had a small problem with the engine dying after it landed and I'd try to taxi it back to my location . Turns out is was air in my gas line . Ron (instructor ) asked me if I'd changed any thing lately . I said "yeah, I put a new spinner on it " He asked if I had to trim the spinner to make it fit the prop . I answered "yes, but I very careful to make the cuts even" Turns out the spinner was out of balance and causing my fuel to foam up . I put the orig spinner back on and the problem went away
Back to theP-51 . Ron (inst) and I did every conceivable pre-flight test we could think of . I gas it up and it took about 2 sec with the elec start and the engine was running ( this engine has been sitting since Sept of last year ) We did not need to adj anything . The engine ran beautifully . Ron taxied it out and checked to see how it "tracked " no problems there either . He taxied it up and down our grass field kind getting a feel for the plane ( he had never flown this P-51 PTS) He turned and look at me and asked if I was ready . I shrugged my shoulders and closed my eyes ( my heart was in my throat ) I heard the engine go to full throttle and I peeked thru my fingers LOL .It took off beautifully and even more exciting was IT WAS UNDER COMPLETE CONTROL. Ron flew it around for about five minutes and did some trimming for me then he handed me the controls . I must honestly say "it flew like a the trainer it is supposed to be " Very slow , very docile, did not exhibit any bad tendencies , which is exactly what I wanted , seeing as how I had never flown a low winged aircraft . After about 6 or 7 minutes of my heart pounding in my chest so hard I knew Ron could hear it , I handed the control back over and he brouhgt her in for a landing . It slowed up nicely and stayed steady and he landed it with just one little bounce (NOTHING BROKE!!!!)
Second flight . I taxied it out , not Ron.
