    hey Smooreace

Nice pics and it sure looks like its flying LOL .I'm kinda toying with the idea of getting a field charger ............ any suggestions ? I know nothing about these items . The LHS recommended a "Pinnacle" but like I said , I really don't know if this is what I need or not .He could be just tring to sell me the most expensive charger he has.

yeah im also in the same boat with a charger. Ive got one of these old timers that i use for just charging the starter for my cars. But id like to not have to wait forever with the wall mount and this one i can hook to my battery at the field.

But id like to ahve something tell me when its charged. not just guess and have to break out the volt meter all the time.

    sorry forgot the link.

I really like this Prophet Plus... It has peak sensing, and after peak it alarms and switches to trickle. Selectable 1 2 and 4 amp charge rates. 120v or 12v input, and double fuse protected. It one of only 5 I think chargers that will properly run the Losi charge adapter that does LiPos
Prophet Plus and Prophet Plus LCD

The LCD is about the same except has a.. um... LCD. Not bad at all for $40 and $60 I think

    And heres the charger converter

The only thing that could make any of this better is if I could charge 2 batteries at once

I got a Triton 2 for Christmas. . . That thing is amazing. The price will seem a bit much at first, but when you get it you will love it. It will charge just about everything Nicd, Nimh, Lipo, Li-ion, and lead acid. It shows you exactly how much you've put in, it charges up to 5s lipos. It has a memory in it so you can store your common battery settings, and preferred charge rates. It has a safety timer in it, so you can program it it shut off at a predetermined time, LOTS of safety features, you can even plug in a temperature probe and program the charger to shut off when the batt reaches a predetermined temperature. One of my Personal favorite features is that the display is backlit, so when it's in a dimly lit room, I can still see the screen. It will charge up to 7amps. The limit is 90watts however. I can't say enough good things about it.

I picked up the Hobbico Accu Cycle Elite for about $130. Not sure what Triton's and such go for, but this one does the trick for me.

It has peak sensing, switces to trickle, fully adjustable as to charge rates etc. Also has a cycle feature that will drain and charge, which I use about every 3 weeks just because I can.

It puts a peak charge on my batteries (NiMh, 1200 and 1500 Mah) in about 20 to 40 mins. depending on how low they are. The cycle takes about 8 hours, so I usually start it just before going to be.

Also comes with battery clamps, so it usable in the field.....not sure if its the charger, or I have some good batteries, but peak charge on my 1500 pack actually reads 1700 mah when its done....

I thinck it is a great model for begginers because the only reason a plane will tip stall is because of the size of the wings. The droops are there to make the plane bigger so it wont tip stall as bad as many other warbirds

    Speedair,
Yes, this plane is amazing and you are exactly right about the wing size. But, when a beginner pilot gets more experience and becomes more confident, he/she can loose the droops and go faster and be more agile (which they always do!). The amazing thing about it, is that when the droops come off there is very little noticeable difference in tip stalling after they are off. The plane is a bit faster and you have to fly it faster to avoid that but overall it is just about the same.

Finally got the radio gear and engine in yesterday. I am still waiting on another little package that has stuff like a voltwatch, y-harness, additional fuel line, fuel dot kit and so forth. I got almost all of the radio gear installed last night, with exception to the aileron servos because I had not yet epoxied the little wooden blocks to the hatch covers. Got that done this morning before going to work. I was sitting there eating the muffin the wife made this morning admiring the sexy epoxy job I had done when suddenly it dawned on me that I had epoxied the blocks on in the wrong direction. Needless to say the muffin hit the table and I was pulling the blocks off with the now taffy like epoxy stringing along. Got all that junk cleaned up and remounted the blocks the CORRECT way and finished my muffin.. The whole time the cat was eyeballin me from the hall, well she was until I made a slight "ratatatatatatata" sound. I will get some pictures soon. My bird has got almost zero markings on it. I pulled off the QP on the side and the big Q off the rudder and have no intention of using the decals that came with it. Except for maybe those fuel stickers. I could use them to mark the CG. I think I wanna get me a custom decal set made or do some of those do it your dang self waterslide decals.

    Field Charger:

I really like the Triton2 also, use it mostly in the shop. ( needs 12v power supply ) Only gimicky thing is you need to buy all the differnet leads/plugs you may
need ( JR/FUTABA ) Tx & Rx, LiPo etc... seperately. Wish they would just include for a couple extra bucks...

    * Some folks convert their old computer 12v power supply to use, but I prefer a store bought 120v/12v power supply,
or the truck battery when its actually at home & not out being filled with garden stuff :-)

100 bucks for flowers that only last 1 year , what the &*%&^%)%
oh, yeah. I need to pick up a new plane cuase the 109 is toast....
(note to self, DO NOT mention new engine also...)

Honestly, though, I'm very lucky. She's cool about the planes. Even once said, wow that one is pretty.
Started to say " a Typhoon is NOT pretty, its ugly, thats what makes it so.... but then stopped and humbly accepted the
nice thoughts......rushed out a spent another 50 bucks on it while the mood was right

Also this one Double Vision Fast

Simple and quick, aligator clips for car/truck battery, JR leads, really simple for fast hook up, nothing to program
& has glow igniter fast charge socket( primary reason to use ) but good for the top ups while at the field.

Little bit pricy for what it does, got mine used for 20 bucks.

    RAINING !!!!!! heavy sigh.......

doby45- You may need to change the plugs on the voltwatch if your using JR/Spectrum stuff, comes w/ Futaba plugs I think ??

I too am lucky in that the wife spends at LEAST that much every year on annuals that I drag to the compost pile in October, so there is no griping about my expenses. She actually comes out to the field 2-3 times a month just to see what everyone is flying.

She actually thumbs through some of the hobby mags that show up and points out planes she thinks look "neat".

To me, that is pretty close to a wife sitting down, opening the newest edition of Hustler and saying "Honey, I think that one looks nice...you should think about buying it....."
