Thank you all for the warm welcome back.

    Falcon,
Thank you for the weight report on the Evolution engines.

    wildhair,
Still haven't flown it yet, but I did get to run a second tank through it at my friend's house this evening. On the first tank, as expected, it didn't like going through the RPM range without difficulties, and it required some tuning to get started and stay running. On the second tank, I ran it for a few minutes and re-tuned it a bit. This time it began to run noticeably better. Near the end of the tank, my friend and I took turns holding the plane in the air and giving it full throttle. It ran so well, that it was on the edge of a hover in our hands. While still maintaining contact with it, we would loosen our grips and it would stay put while holding a hand on the leading edge of the wing to keep it from taking off, and nothing but a palm grip on the tail of the fuselage (the plane, ourselves, nor anyone else or property were in any danger, as we still had contact with the plane the entire time). The next tank will be a tune 'n' fly tank at the field next weekend. I'll provide a full report afterwards.

As for the rolling at idle during the first tank, it is because I was on concrete and not grass like I'm used to.

wldhair- if the butter knife is too thick to slide under the canopy you could try and old, expired credit card or one of those fake cards that they send you in the mail. I keep all the fake ones I recieve as they come in handy for this reason. And they also make great putty/filler spreaders or squeegies for glassing or applying decals, etc.

Hey ....... Bonus Flite nite ....... You ever have one of those nite when everything goes wrong. I got to the field and gased up the Nexstar - flew a couple of flites and was practicing landing I was bouncing alot and wasn't sure why ... I decided to keep practicing til I got it right and could do a touch and go (never done one) I'd bring her in and land keep it running - but a soon as I gas throttled back up it would die . Nexstar did this at least 4 times . Took it back to the bench and tried richening up a little ... no help .. then a friend of mine noticed LOTS of air bubbles in the fuel line could possibly be pin hole in a line ?...... fuel tank could be vibrating?...... prop could be out of balance ?..... Anyway .... after one of the flights and attemtped touch and go - I was back at the flight table and noticed FUEL in my tool box (which sits below my flight box ) You have to see my set up to understand but I bet I have 1/4 of a gallon of fuel was in my tool box all over everything .. what a mess . Seems after I fueled up I left the filler line lower than the bottle of fuel and it siphened itself into my tool box ...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... We had our monthly meeting and somebody asked if I was going to put the Mustang in the air -I had a gut feeling that it wasn't my nite so I kept "Marie " on the ground...
So- Yet tonite I should take out the engine - check the fuel tank - change all the lines..... and maybe put on a new prop and spinner ..... anybody ever have this problem with air in the lines???
Gotta get busy - BTW I know at least ONE of the guys in the club reads these posts he might post if we prod him enough

Ive had SEVERAL of those nights... and they royaly suck. Most of mine start with some sort of stupid damage. Planes blowing out of the truck, engine not running worth a crap... total lawn darts, and Midair collisions. Ive had a few really tough nights. My mustang went into a try at least partially because of poor throttle response. No damage to speak of, but still. I lost a half gallon of fuel one time from the same thing. I must have hit the line when I walked away. Expensive mess!!

Wudup PTS friends. . . Long time no speak, had to pop in and say hello. Finally took out the Tuskegee lookalike last week, the day before the (hopefully) final ankle Surgery WOO HOO!!! Hopefully I'll FINALLY be able to actually walk again in a couple months. Anyway, a few weeks ago I went over to the "dark side" and joined the ranks of the rotary wing fellows. Talk about dilemmas I love my birds, but flying that heli is some kind of cool!!! Just checkin in to see how everybody's doin.

Wecome back GO. glad your healing now but sorry, we have to put our backs to you now..just walk away..

    JUST KIDDING of course!

    Wld,
lots of little bubbles is usually a pinhole, a bunch of large ones can be a loose fit somewhere. Check everything, from the carb and fitting back, the metal tube that runs through the tank stopper, the line inside the tank, the filter, the clunk is able to move freely.

You "probably" don't have fuel foaming issue but....do you have a lot of vibration?

I don't think its vibration either I've had the same prop and spinner on this plane for months I'm thinking something came loose somewhere .... I'll check it out later today ... Bubbles were BIG and lots of them .. so I'm gonna check the connections to the fuel tak and go from there ... thanks for the tip about the "big Bubbles" LOL
