I was present when a friend ran one of Micro Flight's throttled .010 engines. It was the best performing little gem I'd EVER seen! With RPM's in the high 29,000 and touching the 30,000 a couple of times and comming down to 5,000 also. The fuel (also available from him) was top notch and, using only castor oil, sealed the sleeve well.

Toolman2 is the co-designer of Steve Adams' (Scaliwag) .010 "Throttle Ring". Steve Adams said the COX TEE DEE .010 engine could not be made to idle below 11,000 rpm "...the flame goes out...." They were amazed, when they tached their MICRO-FLITE/COX TD .010 “R/C” ENGINE idling at 5,000 rpm. They were also amazed when they tached it hitting 30,000 rpm. When Toolman2 said, "It was the best performing little gem I'd EVER seen, it is obvious that MICRO-FLITE'S patented THERMAL EXHAUST THROTTLE has OVERALL excellent performance: Instantaneous throttle response, fully variable midrange, etc.

The HIGH ACCLAIM coming in from the U.S.A. and overseas is that MICRO-FLITE'S throttle works just as well in the air as it does on the ground!!!! (See Michael Loft's 5-channel "1/8A" Pilatus Porter on our "1/8A" GALLERY at: www.micro-flite.com.)

The MICRO-FLITE/COX TD .010 “R/C” ENGINE has ALREADY received very HIGH ACCLAIM from high tech universities, engineering schools and modelers. They have described the performance of the .010 "R/C" engine: "magnificent", "amazing", and "awesome"! The MICRO-FLITE/COX TD .010 “R/C” ENGINE is probably ALREADY the most highly praised small glow engine in the history of R/C modeling.

We have posted some of this HIGH ACCLAIM on our web site (www.micro-flite.com) starting with page 3, under WELCOME TO MICRO-FLITE. There now is more HIGH ACCLAIM coming in from overseas. We will be posting this on MICRO-FLITE'S web site, soon.

Roger

This topic has been discussed ad nauseam and not one person has been convinced of the other sides point of view. How about we all just agree to disagree and quit flogging this long dead horse?

Roger,
What this thread does NOT need is more sales pitches and boasting from your company. Let Zach run his engine, fly his engine, and give his own report to the readers please. We are well aware what you you claim - can you not understand that a manufacturer that continually boasts about their product is in many eyes not earning credibility but in many ways losing it?

Lets keep this on the striaght and level. NO more posts from the manufacturer, and no bashing. Lets give Zach a chance to get his running and flying (I dont expect it in a weekend either). Untill then...

AJC

Hey AJ!! long time no see dude...Zach, AJ being the reviewer he is,, he has asked you for more than the rest of us,,I'm guessing you dont have an 1/8A plane ready to drop the engine in,,so just video or stills of the engine with tach including the engine, tach, and the throttle..flight would be good too, but you should be able to mount and run the engine within a few days....Rog

Yes, well, I HAVE one and I can state with fierce conviction that all of the above claims are FALSE.
It will not do what he says. It's a bald-faced LIE, and that's why he won't let anybody review it.
The "high tech universities" did NOT use this engine...they got samples, found them inadequate, and threw them in a box.
Like I said, the guy is a liar. A snake oil salesman. He does not even know Moby Grape like he claimed, I asked, he had never heard of him.

The only way I am going to post the findings when I run the engine is if you all layoff the BS. If you all keep this up I will never post anything else on this thread.

OK, before everyone picks up their marbles and go home...I have a question.

From what I can gather this is simply a Cox .010 with some kind of conversion carb for RC.

Seems to me these little engines have full power at some high RPM which enables them to fly a model.

When you cut back on the throttle, even to a RPM figure of half of top speed, a significant loss of power will occur.

Hopefully someone will fly one of these engines to see if a low idle is really necessary.

Hey EASYTIGER, since you don't like yours, could you ship it to AJ for analysis? He'll send it back when he's done. He'll also give us results that we'll trust as he's well known here, not just some guy on a website that we have to track down and find the real deal from.

Not necessarily Joe. But you need a tach, a way to show us operation (video) and a bunch of runtime on an engine. Andy's engine is broken in, ready to go. AJ has all the necesary tools and experience and airframes. We are asking a bunch from you so it does feel like we're pileing on when all we really are is frustrated.

Got an itch and we can't get it scratched for a year now. YEOUCH!

Ditto, It's Roger reicarnate. Notice the excessive use of the CAPS LOCK feature. It's Roger man no doubt about it.

Hey Zach, I thought about it and I apologise for calling you Roger. You have to admit that your review bears a uncanny resemblance to Rogers dogma at the MF sight. If you say your not Roger I'll honor your request and call you Zach from here on out. I sure hate to see a youngster fall for this, but hey I learned alot of lessons the hard way to. So good luck with it.

I'm only apologising for calling you Roger. I stand by everything else I've said to you both in the forum and in reply to your numerous PM's.

ACtually.... THAT matters a WHOLE LOT! You see, the very premiss of this thing is that it will outperform a "simple" thottle sleeve, both in high end and idle performace, throttlability and the ability to shut down the engine. So you see, it matters much....

AJC

Andrew,

Why don't we push the "rewind buttons" on our lives and do this over again! Let's try to cooperate and get it right this time. No more tongue-and-cheek humor from me -- I promise! We need to do this to promote our favorite R/C hobby. That is why Toolman2 had the courage to post what he did. As he said, "I was just commenting on the engine he developed and promoting our hobby."

Would you please post the idle and full speed (top-end) rpm performance of Steve Adams' (Scaliwag) "Throttle Ring" that you own.

Also, please report on the needle valve settings being used during the tachometer readings.

Thank you.

Roger

That's an excellent idea Roger, How about sending Andrew one of your engines and have it honestly reviewed by a man that 99% of the regular contributors to this forum hold in the highest reguard. This was the request he made to you over a year ago. You'll get no BS from Andrew, just the facts.

I don't see any reason to question the Skaliwag throttle's functionability. You see there's already a bunch of them out there being used by real people in real 1/8 A aplications. I'm one of them (.010 size Radical RC Microstick). I bought mine on the testamonial of another trusted member of this forum and by watching a video of the thing in use on a real plane (matchlessarrows 2004 contest entry the .010 Superchipmonk). There's another video on the 2005 contest sight with the Skaliwag throttle in operation flying a real model.

The problem with your engine is I haven't seen or heard dink from people I trust. Send him an engine and prove me wrong. Untill I hear other wise ,I'll hang my hat on Easytigers very real assesment of one of your engines. He say's it does not do what you claim.

Darren
