George, looks like you've got the Forstner bits going good now. You'll dig how often you seem to use these things.

You were right, they certainly do come in handy,
Hopefully tonight I'll be able to mount the rear tailwheel and start running airlines up thru the fuse. I would like to close up the bottom by the weekend.

George

If you are going to put your antana inside the fuse now is the time to run a plastic tube back thru the fuse, I just hot glue it in place, and just make sure it is clear of all controls, will try to catch you this w/e...

George, now's about the time you get to start thinking about your tailwheel doors too. I sure did like using the Nelson hinges back there. I just mounted a basswood strip underneath the hinges to give them something to screw in to. The tailwheel mount is easy, unless like me, you use the mongo tailwheel retract. Also, stock up on some heavy glass cloth and epoxy resin for the doors. I need more and have already gone through a bunch laying out the tail and gear doors. Did you get your wheels yet?

I have not ordered the wheels, I was planning on asking you and the rest for opinions on the tailwheel itself.

DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THIS BIRD, DO WE NEED AN ALUMINUM HUB FOR THE TAILWHEEL??

Good moring George

My personal experience with my first bird is no but I did bush it with some brass tubing, the mains yes and for a lite cheep wheel try the Sulivan "skylite" The only negitive I found was the nylon center hub, the hole was .005 under 1/64 off center, just set them up on the drill press and redrilled and brass bushed back to axel size.. Hope this helps

George

One outher thing I found helpful, ask you sig/outher for a bottle of finger nail polish (one ske don't like) then on screws. bolts, nuts, servoarm screws etc, put a dab on the side, so if it comes loos you can instantly see it... just a line on the side..
