Are you talking about the wheel or the whole gear?
I don't know what the wheel is. It was on the gear when I bought them. The gear is the Robart unit.

in looking closely at your photos, it appears that the paint may be "blushing" - this happens when the ambient temperature is cool (below 60 degrees) and/or the humidity is high. I notice in the background you have snow on the ground? If you plan on painting water based paint in the winter, you need a heated area to at least 60 degrees, preferably 70 or above. I know its difficult to paint in winter (except here in SoCal ), but preheating where you intend to paint will help out considerably. Also, water based paints take a LONG time to dry out in cool/wet weather conditions to the point they can be sanded with some success.....

Thanks Randy . No not snow here in Atlanta its a gravel drive going down to the basement .The temp was around 76 here dont know what the humidity was but will keep an eye on that .Learned on the primmer that any temp below 70 was not good for this water based paint.Defanatly more difficult to spray that PPG s acrilic enamel were you get the reducer for that temp your spraying at

Hi Guys,
I have aquired a North West Hobby ( Jack Devine) 1/5 Corsair at a local swap meet. I can't find any threads on this model. Can I get some help. It is completely foam. You cover the entire plane with sheeting for strength and lightness. It looks like a nice plane should fly well on about 40-50CC gaser. I would like to know all the pros and cons on this plane. If anybody has any experience please jump in and give me a hand.
Thanking you in advance.
Cheers

I've never tried this with the paint you are using, but with water based acrylics, I always thin it with alcohol rather than water. Try a little bit on a test sample first. This gives it a faster drying time and also is less likely to produce runs. As with any paint being sprayed, temperature and humidity are big factors. Too cold can cause hazing in the paint that gives it a flat or fogged look. Hope this helps.

GUYS,
I do have a question or 2
what is the type of epoxy being used to attatch the control surfaces?
also I have been getting various answers as to the cowl,
is in neccessary to open up the cowl on the carb. side for adjustment,or is it the general opinion
to leave it. My Cub has a good size hole in the cowl & my Super chipmunk does as well. One reply that I got from another site was they make adjustments with the cowl off then put it in place,my only concern is that if one has to make adjustments to the carb just before flight I'd rather do it thru the hole rather than remove the cowl.

George,

Looking good! Looks you got that painting problem worked out.

As you know I'm still building my GS Corsair but on all my other planes I used 30 minute epoxy on my control surfaces. They take a lot of stress and CA will dry hinges out plus I figure you just can't beat 30 minute epoxy.

As for the cowl I would leave a small hole for adjusting the throttle mixture. You'll have to adjust it and besides that my experience on other warbirds with other engines is they tend to run differently with the cowl on or off.

That's my $.02 worth! Don't I owe you $.05 worth of change for that?
