Dave,

I think the most popular engine is the Zenoah G-62, it's the one that I (and many) chose to buy. It is more that strong enough and heavy enough for a Corsair. Remember that you need extra weight up front and that means in the form of more weight to your engine or more lead that you have to add. I'm turn a 3-blade Solo prop and it has no problem with that.

As for paint vs. covering; I would go with paint on a warbird every time. I used Warbird Colors but there are many choices of paints available to you. Mine comes in between 27 - 28 pounds with paint so it doesn't add that much weight.

You can't go wrong with this kit. It will provide you with months of fun and if you do most of the mods on this forum it will look great. Good luck and good building.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm going with 645MG's for all wing servos. They are on sale at Tower right now plus $15 off any order over $125. Tail surfaces are getting 5645MG's since I already had them.

Gary,

I have several sets of their blades but the combination that I seem to like (today) is a 22" diameter at a 12 pitch. I'm still "breaking - in" my motor so it's still a little rich but right now it's turning around 6400 RPM. Solo's website is soloprops.com, if you order from them they make a set of blades specifically for the Corsair. I think my G-62 will turn about 7200 RPM with this prop once it's well broken in. I kow this prop's a little expensive but since the pitch is variable it can save some money and besides it looks good!

Goodday all you fine gentleman, ladies and fellow model aviators,

I have been following this thread with great interest as I have my Corsair scheduled to go onto the assembly line soon.I am going to use the Saito 450 radial and JR/Hi-tech combo for guidance.
As this thread is very long and it will probably take as long to find the info I'm looking for as it will to build this aeroplane, maybe someone can help who's already stumbled on this type of info.
I'm interested in modifying the vert. and hor. stabilizers to an airfoil shape.Anyone attempted such a mod yet?And if so and complete and flown yet, were there any negative flight characteristics?
I built the Marutaka Corsair quite a while back and they had an airfoil shape designed into their model's tail feathers.I never flew the model as it was for someone else but have heard nothing from the owner ever since I gave it back to him.

Thanks and good luck to all the planes that need to get maidened and I hope I can get my aircraft even close to the standards of workmanship I've seen from all the other builders on this thread.

Hi Dean

Welcome to the thread.

First I am not an expert on Corsairs, but have done some research. so I will/ can ansure some questions.

If you use the INDEX in post #1 you will find a lot of your queation, ansures there, as for outher referances have a look at threadfs " Royal corsair 60 project" and " 1/8 scale Topflite corsair mods" in warbirds& warplanes section, both of these threads are for smaller birds but are great sorces for ideas and "how to"

Hope this helps
