Hi Gibbs

Just my 2 pennys worth but if you look back in a coupla of the scale threads, if the wing has 2 deg's positive, then the horizontal stab has to have 11/2 deg's positive, this is what gives the bird the tail hi look, and your line down the fuss looks about right.

You also might want to check the "Vought Heritage" web site for info.

Your build is looking good

Cheers Bob t

Hey Gibbs,

Check this out! http://www.f4ucorsair.com/

Click on the "technical link on the left"
You should see a top and side view of a Corsair.

click on any part of the corsair and a section of the original drawing comes up. VERY COOL!!

It would be nice to have that all put together.

Anyway if you click on the front of Corsair in the side view you will see the thrust line. You can follow this through the Corsiar all the way to the tail. This should help you to get the tail side of the centerline close.

BTW the VFM 312 checkerboarders that is on another link on that page is what I am modeling. The nose art that you can't see in any of the aircraft photos is the background on the group photo on that page. It is a bulldog with devil horns, wings, and tail holding a 50 cal! I need to get that stencil made yet and its about that time for me. They also have a picture of their kill board. I would like to make a model of that too. I could display that next to my plane at flyins!

OK I just ooked at the Vought Heritage website that Bob mentioned and they have the center line on their drawings also. Cool site I hadn't found that one yet!

OK I have a question. For guys that did the simulated "or real" wing ribs on the outter wing panel and covered them with Koverall, what did you do to finish them after the kaverall was applied. I am wondering if I should dope them then prime and paint or if I shouldn't dope and just paint. I want the fabric look but I don't want it to be pourus. I have already doped the edges and the wing rib tops.

Devans

Again my 2 pennys worth, as long as your paint is compatable with the dope, and don't rinkle or check, I would apply just enough dope to seal the fabric (maybe 3 coats) and then prime and paint

Ok Guys

Been trying to get my corsair ready for this season, So I have a question, After finaly getting the programing for the flaps on my fataba 8U strightened out so that they work from a 3 position switch. I am getting 5 deg's differance at full flap right to left I am using hitec 645MG's stock T/F set up, and have swaped them out twice, with the servos disconected the flaps will free fall from up to 45 deg's repeatedly, that is the mech-limit on the center flap, hooked up with no growl in the up position to mid pos 15deg's both are the same but when I go to full flaps (40 deg;s) the end point set in the transmitter I have the differance.

will check this out at 3 mistakes hi to see if it havs an effect in slow flight I sure don't want to cause a roll condition.

So sugestions please

Bob,

Am I correct to assume you are using a Y connector to one channel for the flaps? If so are the center points of both servos set at zero in the transmitter pointing the servo horn at the exact same angle? I guess what I am getting at is geometry "even slight thousandths difference" could add up at extreme difflection. When I use my hanger 9 digital throw meter I always find descrepencies from one surface to another. I would suggest using different channels for each flap side. On my 9303 I can even adjust the rate that the flap delpoys. That is great to fine tune symetry!

pappy 883,

Yes wing 2 degrees pos and stab 1 1/4 degrees pos. Plus Bob and devens I couldn't get that site to come up on my computer.

Well you're going to have a substantial roll induced by that difference in the flaps. Unfortunately that matching of different servos is a weak point in the Futaba radio. It has to do with the way control inputs are translated and sent to the rx. My brother is using a 9C on his Mustang and that has the same issues especially the dual elevator servos matching although it's not nearly the issue on a Warbird as it is an IMAC model since the control deflections are not as great.

Now if you're running the X9303, then the matching is much easier but I'm going to suggest that you use a Futaba MSA-10 or JR Matchbox to mate up your flap servos as that's what I've suggested to my brother. Those are essentially the same thing from the two manufacturers and allow you to independently adjust centers, direction of travel and endpoints of the servos.

I'm not a fan of Y harnesses in anything but maybe smaller glow models where differences in deflection are not much of an issue either, but for big gasser stuff I prefer something a bit more versitile and most important, reliable.

Just my .02 worth...

Guys

I realy thank you for your comments, and yes I am using a Y harness, Like I said I have switched out the servo's and the Y harness, If you have looked at he stock system, a 1/2 turn on a 4-40 thread can be to much , it seams that the 645MG servo are not as identical/close as I thought, but when I leave the flaps on the 6 chnl knob I get the correct repeat both sides, One thing I learned last season is you don't need a lot over the 25 deg range to slow this bidr down even in no wind so may just limit myself to that. but will keep tinkering to see what I get and I will post my results
