Zeeb

Thanks for the feed back, I will try to locate one monday as I will be going to my LHS 40mi trip one way.

With the wing upside down flaps up no noise a click once and awhile at first down position some growlling , and a full flap same growel, with the wing right side up with the flaps up a little growl but I just tuch the under side it goes away, at half and full down same thing.

We took one servo out and tryed to cause the same growl for about 3 min with no heat build by tuch in the servo, and no voltage drop on my load checker.

thanks again

Bob T

Bob when i was test fitting my flaps they did just as you say with the growling and a slight touch and it would stop. When i measured the current flow going to the servoes i got 1 amp when the servo was driving the flaps but with the servo at idel and the flap in any position they drawed 30 milli amps and the same sero out of the wing and on the bench drawed the same 30 millli amps just sitting there

Bob still Working on covering the controll surfaces .Had nothing realy to post but the boring mundain stuff .I did decide to completly rebuild my rudder and elevators using a 1/32 ply core and blasa ribs and LE then covered in 1/64 ply .The rudder came out around the same weight as the original with fabric covering minus the glass job the elevators came out 8 grams heavier each but look so much better so ill live with the extra weight ill try and post some pics when i get them sanded

My flaps are doing the same as yours, as far as that little growl goes. I think that just gravity alone will cause some load on the servo, unless there is some way to "lock" them up so they don't have any load. I was guessing that in flight the air pressure would keep them up and the servo would not be fighting it then. With the engine on and the plane in motion (whether by engine vibration or flight) I would think the movement would keep the flaps from putting a load on the servo since just a "nudge" at up or down position will make the noise stop. I definitely plan on using some decent size nicads however. Maybe two 1400 mah packs with dual switches.
Good to hear and see all of your progress reports!

Sam

I am with you on the gravity thing, but I think the meter that Zeeb suggested is in order hear, and our club has a sparky engineer that just retired from the local nuke plant so will be trying to get him to halp with learning how to check bat impedence, and when he comes to the field to fly he has a whole box full of meter things he uses.

The weather hear is still in the dumper if it is not raining it is wind 25 mph and up we have had tornado's sout of us 10 mi and to our north about 20+ and after seeing the damage I'll stay with the rain, and way to humid to paint

Pic update covered the tail feathers and aleirons with 1/64 ply added a little more weight than I thought (guess the glue weighed more than i figured or I for got to weigh some thing ) added about 40 grams over all without glassing Over all i am much happier with the looks og them know and will live with the added weight

Anybody have any pictures of their air setup for the TW gear doors and what size air cylinders they used? I need to put in the air cylinders and lines and do what ever else is necessary before I close it in to much to do so.

I had an idea of using 1" throw Robart air cylinders srewed to 1/8" ply and grinding the ends of the screws off so they can be epoxied in the proper location when I am done making the doors. Heres what I did. Do you think this will work?

Thanks Bob and Barry for the complements .Bob i havent done a total weight as of yet . I cant figure out how to get the plane on my scale and still be able to read the scale.Thought about a peice of plywood zeroing out the scale then placeing the plane on the plywood but it covers the readout .The scale is about 1 foot square and can support up to 70 pounds any thoughts
