Thanks Winston. I guess my hangup on doing it that way stemmed from me not being able to figure out how to close the doors without hitting the wheel, but as I figure it out now, they need to be cut there for clearance anyway, so the wheel goes in without touching them as the doors close with the wheel. I'll just have to use a couple centering springs to keep the t.w. centered when it goes up. Finished installing the mock radial today which made it a bit more difficult to get my cowl mount screws in (going at them from front end thru the radial). Hopefully I won't have to be taking it on and off there much.

Wolf

On my nect corsair build I will be using the from the front attach method and I played a little with it on my current 47 build I found that by adding paper tubes front to back at each screw it workes purty good you just have to fine the right size tubes. I will most likely make my own using a dowel as a form and brown wrapping papper

Good luck

To any of you who read my thread on my 1/4 scale Don Smith Corsair,

It was brought to my attention that maybe I slighted the TF Giant Corsair and that the Don Smith Corsair is better. I did not intend this to happen. I was just pointing out that any plane built by a kit or a designer is not going to be true scale. A builder said he had all the blueprints for the full scale Corsair and he was going to build it to look like the real thing. but he also said he was using a TF Giant Corsair kit to use as a starting ground. I was just trying to say if he really wanted a true scale Corsair he would have to build it from scratch using the blueprints. Not a kit or from a designer, unless it was the one that truely designed the Corsairs. Sorry if I sounded like I was putting down TF's Giant Corsair kit. I have seen miracles done by a bunch of you that went that extra yard to make it as close to scale as I will be able to do with mine and probably even better.

Thanks Bob. I had thought about using straws as I have seen that done effectively too. After fiddling around for a couple of hours today making a little kick plate mechanism for the main gear doors and seeing that it was going to take at least that much longer to get the geometry and throws right, I tossed the thing aside and put some servos under the wing skin rearward of the wheel wells and said forget it. I'll adjust throws from the tranny and burn an extra channel or get the Oregon Scale product so that I don't have to remember to open the doors. Gotta make a couple more pushrods for one door, but otherwise, that part's behind me nowa good feeling. Tailwheel doors tomorrow.

Hey Guys, Believe it or not I have another UPDATE. The fuse is completly glass now. Before I glassed it I took a Ballpin hammer and using the round end, I slid it up and down the panel line marks and in a few other places where wrinkles occur. Then hit it with sandpaper one more time. I can't see the "dents" in it yet, (to glossy) but my fingers can feel them. Hopefully when the plane is painted it will make a nice effect.

The wings are next.
Pics later:

Finally the out wing panels are sheeted! They both fold very smoothly, but I had to up the voltage on the fold battery to 9.6 volts. Now to flip the wing over and complete sheeting the bottom to lay up the fiberglass for the gear doors. I won' finish sheeting in the top until the gear doors are functional.

Hi Cdohany

The fold is great, will there be a vid of both wings?

Boy that is a great idea about not sheeting the top till you get the gear doors right, it will give you a lot of visiblity

Thanks Bob,

I'm going to configure the Wingman Ultra from OSA tomorrow morning and do the hookup of the locking mechanisms to get everything sequencing just right. I should be posting a video tomorrow afternoon if all goes well!
