Thats what I was confused about Bob .I thought that if it was invertied it would go to the bottom of the engine but it turns out it goes up toward the spark plug o well . I guess Ill just run it strait into the ring with a header box like you sugested it will be easer to do it that way anyway. cheaper also. yours is only 89 90 db at 9 feet away thought it would be louder I can live with that . Thanks for the tip

Cimara

If you are realy in to scale exhaust exit points take a look at the pic's in a thread called "Corsair Buffs and History Hunters" you would have to go from one tube to three and if you use dions transitions ideas it will look and have a different sound.
Keep posting pic's.

And when the engine is inverted the bottem is at the spark plug

Cheers Bob

Hi Cimara

All ways fun to providd a little HOT blanket on a build he he

When I built my first G/S Corsair, I didn't know about RCU and just built to the plan, at about 90% complete I got in hear and was amazed at the amount of info avalible,So after the crash and started this new one I added just the mods that I felt comfertable with, but now with all of the info that I have gathered this last year, the next bird will be a lot more scale and have a lot more detail, and I think a lot more fun..

With the weather the way it is hear in MN flying may be over till next April, so I my just pickle my engines for the winter

Cheers Bob

Cimara

If I go by my cowl the chin scop it out to far. If you like I can take a pic, for you and mybe give you some help, and from everything I have read if you stay under 30 lbs. total emty weight you should be ok with a G-62.

hi Guys, Ive been following this thread for a while I finally read it from the start to finish, took me three days!! I started building my corsair about six weeks ago I have gotten some great ideas from all of you guys I'm just about to start on my rear retract doors. I will use a G62, Hi tech hi torque servos, Gear doors, Hopefully a sliding canopy, and will glass with .75 oz cloth & z poxy. I have sheeted the wing in two different depths of balsa and added small balsa ribs to go under the cloth. here are some pics so far.

Cimara that cowl looks nice I cant remember if I read what one it is, can you let me Know thanks, Also any chance of showing the set up of the sliding canopy set up? Nice job on that.

TJ

Cimara I am putting the finishing touches on the dreaded ( Wing ) not only the center section...boy what a job getting that wing built...you have to watch every step of the construction to keep that wing straight...between the gull, the dihedral, and the washout that wing is not an easy build...so easy to get a twist if you are not carefull..I have built many a wing in my modeling days, the corsair gull wing is the most difficult...and time consuming...oh well back to work I have to finish putting the top wing skins on....GOOD LUCK.

Ok guys need some advice on those gear strengthen mods to the wing here is what I have come up with . I used 1/4 walnut under the hardwood block shaped like a triangle on both sides . I putting walnut tri in each of the out side corners of the assembly..the only reason I used walnut is because I already had it on hand. planing on dropping the hard wood mounting block 3/16 of an inch to get the doors to close is this correct

That build looks great, But being an old duffer and new to scale, please tell me how you did the wing pnl's it looks like you sheeted over a base sheeting?? also are you going to close off the hinge lines on the tail feathers?.

Hay RC

How about some pic's

Cimara

That tri stock is good, and it looks like your are doing great, the only thing I can add is when building that center section do both sides at the same time so you know it is straight and square, and if your are planning on gear doors be sure to put dummy ply ribbs for the door hinges, and make them parallel to the strut swing axis, both fwd/aft and up/down. Hope this is not confusing.

Cheers Bob
