In Calgary my club is the Calgary Miniature Pylon Racing Association. We have 20 members - about 10 really active.

We race in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba within a circuit sanctioned by the Canadian Prairie Pylon Racing Asssociation. The CPPRA has about 30 members. We race five contests a season:

Regina, Sask
Calgary, AB
Prince Albert, Sask
Saskatoon, Sask
Winnipeg, Manitoba

We race Quickie 500 on Saturdays and Q40 on Sundays. Quickie is a modified version of the MAAC Canadian 500 event. Basically it is AMA 428 but we limit the engine to use the Webra-Q engine with the Nelson muffler. The engine will spin an APC 8.75 x 7.75W at about 18,000 rpm. It is faster than APRA or 424 but slower than 428. It is probably most like SEMPRA with the Quickie Sport Jett. We race on the 2.0 mile course and a good time is 1:13 or so. The fast guys are under 1:10. This is our current "entry level" event but it is pretty fast for the new racer. We have attracted a handful of new guys over the past couple of years but I feel that we need an APRA style event. We are only attracting the new guys that are really keen. We do not have anything for the guy who wants to just test the water.

Popular Quickie kits are the Hornett (local kit), Revlution, VMax, and Neme-Q We regularly get about 20+ entries

Q40 is run on the standard course with the standard rules. Popular kits are from our local guy, Harold Sattler at H&M Racing. We fly the Miss Candace, Miss Foxy Lady, Loki and a few Dagos and Miss Ashleys thrown in. A good time is around 1:10 and the fast guys are 1:08-ish. We regularly get about 14+ guys competing.

Harold Sattler and Roy Andrassy are two of our members who regularly attend the Phoenix Q40 race and the Muncie Nats. Harold and Roy were also on the Canadian FAI pylon team.

No web site yet but we're working on it. Here is a link to my own racing photos.
