I recently purchased a YS 1.20 FZ. It is the best running 2 stroke I have ever owned. I am looking for another YS 120, but have no Idea what the heck all of the suffix are.

I know the AC is the air chamber (what ever that does?) and the DZ is the newest B-A on the block, Every one wants an SC ?? but other than that.....

that YS had a 120FZ 2-stroke he he.
I don't know all the engines, but I have had a few. Everybody know that the newest and strongest is the 140DZ. This engine, has been described as having as much as 25% more power than the 140L, and more user friendly than the L. The 140L was their power house, a bit of a shaker, but very strong (I have one of these) turns an apc18x6W well. The 140FZ has less power than the L and is less of a shaker (I have one of these as well) turns an aps17x8 well. The new 140Sport should be somewhere betweeh the FZ and the L. The 120FZ is the latest of the 120 size. I have a 120SC and a 120NC, and I had a 120AC. The 120AC ran very well, but is 3-4 oz heavier due to the air chamber. My 120NC, currently on a U Can Do 3D, runs very well, pulls an apc17x6 to 8800 and just ticks over at idle. The 120SC turns the same prop minimum 500 rpm more, but is not as responsive in the mid range.

Not much on the site but news about the new DZ... I shot off an email and heres the reply.

"I think these are just designations that the YS factory pulled out of their hats! The only one for sure is the AC, meaning airchamber. The FZ is the latest and last of the 120 engines made by YS. Each of the letter designations had either internal or external mods which differed from the earlier version. To give you complete specs for each is not possible as it would take a book to log all the various mods that YS has made over the years in the 120 line. Enjoy your FZ, they are very good engines.
Good Flying,"

So I guess there is no real reasoning, just lost of letters in the name.

It would be nice to at least have a timeline on the differences?
At least put them in a pecking order perhaps
