I think some of us need to calm down a little. I am on my second turmoil and I'm not about to call it trash, but I'm not saying it's the greatest thing since sliced bread either. As far as building it in 2-3 hours, what they mean is, if you know the plane inside and out. My first turmoil took me upwards of 15 hours, mainly because my batch of plastic was bad. So when I got new plastic, I had to start some of it over, plus, it was my first foamy. Then I went and built my second, it took maybe 3 and a half hours of actual work. If I build another, it'll probably take even less time. I think that there is alot to be said for common sence and patience. If you just rush into it trying to get in the air of course you'll have problems. I'm not a big fan of the hinges so far either. So far I have had 1/2 of all the hinges I've used break, heat or no. Not to mention nearly all of the control horns clip portions broke. So, maybe we should just admit, that unless you're lucky, the hinges pretty much suck, if they were made from higher grade plastic it would probably be fine, but they're not. Let's also keep in mind price. I bought mine for $27!!!! I don't care if all of the hinges break for that price, tape it and call it good! However, we are all entitled to our own opinions, and if some of us want to say it sucks that's fine. It's just an opinion, I know several people, who, if it's not perfection it sucks, then there are those like me, who excpect to have certain problems, keeping in mind cost, it is a kit, not a prebuilt plane. If I buy a kit, I buy it realizing that I will probably have problems with it at some point, however, if I by an RTF, and it has problems right off the bat, then we have a problem. My point is that there's no use getting steamed up over who says what about this plane, I mean, if everyone liked all the same things, communism would work!

Take it for what its worth.. I have 1 cap and 2 reflections... I always take my time building and don't rush, so thats not a issue... The cap sucks, and the reflections are much better fliers... BUT their plastic is the poorest quality I've seen since the 60's jap cheap models!!!! They tell you to ream out the control horns because THEY WERE EITHER PRODUCED FROM BAD TOOLING OR BAD ENGINEERING TO BEGIN WITH , not to mention the total lack of quality control... They put out a terrible product and THEY want YOU to fix it to make it work!!!! I also discovered when using some tape to mask a area for glueing that when I removed the tape the covering (whatever it is ) came up in some long peices to show rather long gouges in the foam under it ... I guess they think, so much for quality nobody will see it !!!! Will I ever buy another maybe if it was priced at half what the price is and even then probably not...

eric with all due respect smart has nothing, you have to have some patience, which flatout did you have? In my previou post I strongly recommend that you dont start with the reflection, your better off with a single wing flatout maybe the extra or flatana.

Am going to elaborate on this thread soon, get get a video building one.

tata for now.

BASH BASH BASH BASH CRAP BASH BASH.... This is why i am getting sick of the forums. Just calm down people.

I have 2 flatouts, (edge and flatana). NO problems. They fly VERY well. Excellent for the money too. just a blast!

When will people realise that when things break and go wrong its often their own fault?!

So your saying when you buy a product that bad its your fault!!!! The quality is terrible so thats your fault!!! Bad plastic and tooling and inferior foam is your fault!!!! Seem a little misguided don't you think!!!

I like my Flatouts....

but they needed mods to be durable.

Tape for hinges. the low wing jobs needed to be modded to be mid wings.

I kept the hingy things on the elevators until they broke and then went to tape.

i have my edge, it flies great, the only wrong in it, its the landing gear system, but i made a acrilic reinforces to he plastic suports in the wing and it look fine, end of the problem. i think that the plane it's too comercial, may be GP have to take more care in the design of the plane. i prefer to pay a little more for a durable plane. i will buy another edge, but with tape hinge system, and i'll make a reinforcement to the LG. i post a pictures. i hope it works.

Hehehe I just got the whole set, it's way to much fun and for the price you cant beat it.

Sure you can beat it, $19 for a HL Yak-55 which outperforms, builds quicker and is much more durable than the Flatouts. Check out my Foamy fleet, as you can see, the flatout isn't as durable.

I built a Flatout Reflection for my first foamy.I thought it went together great.Foam safe CA and kicker worked good. The hinges are working perfectly.they have popped off in crashes about 4 times already.I still haven't broke one.I love this little plane.

For $19.00 does it come with motor, prop, prop saver and gearbox? What is the total after this is added?

The Flatana is my first foamy and I was very happy with the way everything went together. Took about 8-10 hours to build. The only concern I have is how strong the landing gear is. Can't wait till the summer to toss it in the air.

Ryan

I made the mistake of not readin gthe instructions carefully thinking it will together following pictures and voila a useless flatana, so started working on the extra which is completed now, will have to complete the set of flatouts will place order for the flatana shortly.

My advice read and following instrucitons, ca is not forgiving.
