Can anyone tell me who carries the carbon fiber upgrades for the chassis? i tried to buy all of these pieces the other day and was told that some are no longer made. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been playing with my 2.5 on my dyno with the stock engine and have seen 45 in first gear w/ 20% Traxxas fuel and modest tune. I have the optional gear set coming and should be able to run it later this week. I have an OS .18 CV-R going in after I get a good baseline. I have an idea on pipe but will start with the stock piece.

I know numbers are subjective but this does help set shift points and tuning. I have the sway bars and shocks installed but waiting for the snow to melt and finish dyo work. i will try to post any results I get.

Look forward to hearing back on the carbon chassis pieces.

I have a RC DYNO SYSTEMS unit, I have had it for a couple of years. It works really well and have run quite a few cars acrossed it as well as a couple of revo's. The REVO is a bit wide for the belt but still gives good information. This unit is better suited for most on and off- road cars, trucks and buggies up to 1/8. The monsters are too big for it because of the wide track and some lengths.

I have been running it in our dyno cells at ILMOR Engineering here in Michigan. We supply the IRL with 98% of the engines run in the series so most of the guys i work with think this is a pretty cool toy.

I got bit by the R/C bug a few years back and have really gotten into it. I am more interested in these little engines over the big stuff we work on. I think it is amazing how much power can be produced. I do want to buy an engine dyno but for now this works really well. The biggest area i have been able to help some people is on the tuning. I have talked with a couple of hobby stores about offering a service to help people and they seem interested, the problem is arriving at a price that is reasonable for a person to pay for this service. Also, i would be able to help a store show customers what a specific product will do for them. Imagine if you could go into your local hobby store and they could produce verified info on a pipe, engine or fuel that you want based on your use. chances are you would not have to spend a bunch of money doing the trial and error method.

I will be putting the .18 os in soon and then want to put a .21 small block in it. As you know gearing selection is limited so my shift point will be important. I have not been able to find out much on pipes so this will be another area where i can modify the powerband. Fuel, glowplug and oil content will be looked at.

Hello, a friend of mine gave me an old 4-tec that his son used to race, he figures it to be about 8-10 years old. I thought it might be a cool project to rebuild it and get it runnin again.I race nitro and electric Duratrax buggies and stadium trucks but never owned a traxxas car. This would be totally new territory for me since I have never driven a nitro street car before. Anyway, I posted a few pics below to see if anybody could tell me what year car I have. All I got with it is what you see in the pics. I wanted some advice as to if this is a doable project or if it's just to old to bother with. Any feedback would be great(possitve or other). Can I still get parts for it or is it simular to the newer ones? So far I think it needs alot such as front shock towers, wheels, tires, shocks, and a new updated motor, also a transmitter and reciever. Thanks in advance for any input.

BEARBYSR, I am not sure what year that is. By the sound of the list of upgrades and parts you could probably find a newer car on ebay for less than the repairs. i have seen 3.3's on there for 325 to 400 new in the box and that is RTR.

Sorry not much more help than that. I picked mine up for 150 from a friend at work with spares.

hi all. i was finally able to get my optional two speed gears installed and run on the dyno. overall it was a good purchase. i am still playing with the shift point to get the most velocity before nosing over on power and hitting second gear.

Earlier this evning my best run was 60mph. I am not sure how fast the stock 4 yearold 2.5 should go but this is faster than the 51mph i had previously seen testing with the stock gearing. I can also say that there might be alittle bit more in it with a little later shift tune. I started to adjust the shift point and the screen on my computer crapped out. I feel i am close on the tune but it will change again with the weather. i am still running 20% traxxas with the stock glow plug.

the .18 will be going in next. I will continue to use the the 20% testing.

I'll post some of the results in the next couple of days. i have alot to go through.

Yeah, that's what I was thinkin, if I add up the cost of everything, I could probably buy a much newer one off e-bay or somethin for not much more. I am just curious how close it is to the newer ones. I will have to research into it some more and see what I find. It would be a shame to scrap it out because what is on it is in pretty good condition. Thanks for the help RACE 1.

Hey BEARBYSR

I'm not sure what year yours is but it does look to be built aboout the same as the New 4tec i have. Most of the chassis pieces should be the same.

What is wrong with yours?
