I have a RC DYNO SYSTEMS unit, I have had it for a couple of years. It works really well and have run quite a few cars acrossed it as well as a couple of revo's. The REVO is a bit wide for the belt but still gives good information. This unit is better suited for most on and off- road cars, trucks and buggies up to 1/8. The monsters are too big for it because of the wide track and some lengths. I have been running it in our dyno cells at ILMOR Engineering here in Michigan. We supply the IRL with 98% of the engines run in the series so most of the guys i work with think this is a pretty cool toy. I got bit by the R/C bug a few years back and have really gotten into it. I am more interested in these little engines over the big stuff we work on. I think it is amazing how much power can be produced. I do want to buy an engine dyno but for now this works really well. The biggest area i have been able to help some people is on the tuning. I have talked with a couple of hobby stores about offering a service to help people and they seem interested, the problem is arriving at a price that is reasonable for a person to pay for this service. Also, i would be able to help a store show customers what a specific product will do for them. Imagine if you could go into your local hobby store and they could produce verified info on a pipe, engine or fuel that you want based on your use. chances are you would not have to spend a bunch of money doing the trial and error method. I will be putting the .18 os in soon and then want to put a .21 small block in it. As you know gearing selection is limited so my shift point will be important. I have not been able to find out much on pipes so this will be another area where i can modify the powerband. Fuel, glowplug and oil content will be looked at.
