Hi Ray, can you please share with us where the glass fuse came from and whether or not it would be available to others?

Thanks

Vic:
That photo was taken on the 85th flight I believe last February.
It hasn't flown since.

If that was the original Moki 1.8 I sold you, then that motor has well over 250 flights. I did change the bearings at #150, I just thought it needed it but I have no idea how long the bearings last. Any sign on the engine loosing power?

Vic, the engine still runs strong, is only hard to start though. It pretty much flies side by side with the bigger gassers out there.

JuniorJet,

What are you going to power your Spit with? By the way, if you don't want the Yellow Aircraft gear (which I recommend for that plane), John at SpringAir makes some for it. They were very nice.

Yellow or Robart?.
I would say Lenny's gear. He has done some KILLER gear for the Taylor Spit's which he has also modified to fit the Yellow Spit for Scott R. Great choice, and scale as well.

Working scale exhaust and engine, cockpit kit?, paint, and pilot. (the engine is going to happen thanks to a cool gentleman in BC N.T.)

The above links go to the companies that are making it possible for me to complete the Mk1 I will be building.

At present there is no availablity of this fuse, but in the near future, Henry at HVNModels.com, will clean up the presentation, detail the fuse and offer it as a semi kit of sorts laid up with Epoxy resin. Stop by Henry's site for future availability. I have been dropping hints on him to get going with this as well. Anyone truly interested email him, Henry@hvnmodels.com

For those interested, Rawle in the UK has just released some very nice looking cast resin exhaust stacks for the Spit and Hurricane (among others) in 16, 1/5, 1/4, and 1/3 scales. They have both the straight and fish tail types.

Shaun,
I have a ST3000 on the shelf that I will put in the Yellow Spit. I understand that I will be using a lot of lead with this engine choice. If I go with Yellow retracts, can you get me a deal if I buy the mains/tail, scale wheels/tires, and Scale Spinner from you? Also, is Yellow's cockpit kit as good as the others that are on the market? Thanks.
Dave

I think you'll find that the ST 3000 is a fairly poor choice for the Yellow or any other 1/5th scale Spitfire. I powered my first 1/5 Spit (built from Dave Platt plans) with a ST 3000 and ended swapping the engine with a Moki 1.8....far superior engine with much, much more power...it allowed the plane to perform beautiful aerobatic maneuvers....when it had the ST 3000, the best it would do was horizontal figure eights and 720's....
