Your very welcome. Glad you enjoyed the thread. Congradulations on getting your blade up and flying.
Hopefully coming soon...Ill have an addition to the thread....the Bell/Hiller upgrade. It will have to wait until I get back from the competition...so look for it coming soon.

Hi

How did the competition go, and how did you like the bell-hiller upgrade.

Well, the competition went well. I placed 17th which isnt too bad in my opinion for first time up, especially with going against guys like Jason Shulman, Chip Hyde, Mark Leesburg, Devin McGrath, and many others.... and having a plane that was all out of wack because I built it the night before the competition, and hadnt had a chance to really get it tuned up. Ill be more prepared next time.

The tail boom supports are just carbon fiber rods that I hotglued into place. Simple, but looks cool.

I killed my blade yet again in a dumb thumbs mistake...Ive got the Bell/Hiller head. Once I get it all pieced back together, Ill put the build of it up. One of my buddies here got his Blade inverted in the local gym and was hovering it inverted doing blade scuffs. Its such a squirrelly little thing inverted.

Yet another bdavison satisfied customer. Thanks much for all your work. Today I installed the aluminum swashplate and the Bell Hiller mixer. I used your instructions to set everything up. It's like a totally different machine. THANK YOU!

THIS IS DIRECTED TOWARDS THE MODERATORS/ADMINS: Would you guys make this thread a sticky please. It has some of the most useful info on the blade (or honeybeecp2) there is. Please consider this.

Thank You

First off, Thank you very much for this thread. I was getting a bit disappointed with my success so far flying my BCP. Only one new set of baldes and no structural damage yet so I must be doing something right. Bdavidson's suggestions though have made this heli a whole new animal, flies much easier now. Quick question though, when going through the gyro settings, what should the gain pot be set at when adjusting the proportional pot? Mine was changed before I read this thread. Right now I have things somewhat stable but when I turn the gain all the way up as suggested, the tail goes into high speed and spins rapidly. I have the pot turned way down, probably less than 1/4 of a turn off of nothing to keep it stable. Just wondering what is going on. Thanks in advance.

Shaun

Shaun,

It can be a tedious process adjusting the proportional and gyo setting. First, turn the gyro gain all the way to the left/off.
Plug in the battery, wait for the 4 in 1 to arm. Throttle trim about mid way setting. Advance throttle slowly and watch if the nose of the heli want to turn left or right. If the nose turns left, then turn the proportional gain to the right, you must disconnect the battery each time you make an adjustment to the proportional mixer. Repeat process as many times as needed to get the heli from rotating left or right. Next, it's time for the gyro setting, this can be done without disconnecting the battery each time you make an adjustment. Turn gyro about 1/4 turn to the right, throttle up slowly and lift off just a foot or so off the ground and see what she does. Keep increasing gyro gain until you feel it's right for you, we all have different skill levels and feel for flying. When increasing gyro setting, if the tail starts to wag like a dogs tail, even slightly, then the gyro gain is set to high. Back of the setting just a tiny bit at a time, until the wagging goes away. It could take 5 or 10 minutes to go through the process. But it makes the Blade much more stable and flyable.

Hope this helps,
Choppersrule

Just an FYI, I tried the aftermarket blades for the CP, called plastiblades. I'm not impressed. The only reason I dont like them is they are heavy, if your learning and crashing a lot, they may be great. They are just too heavy for me, takes me almost 3/4 throttle to lift off when the stock blades lift off a tad past half throttle. I think I'll spend the money on the carbon fiber's when I break the stock blades.
