Gilles- I suspect that RCU is not a real cross section of the hobby over here. I know that I see a lot of 5 and 10% fuel at the few hobby shops that I go to. Still, I had the same impression as you for a while until I saw how much low nitro fuel is sold around here.

Hey Sandman, there was an article in an aero modellers magazine about 3 years ago from an engine collector, who wrote about the engine and the running in procedure. I remember, that starting the new engine could only be achieved by using a 700 Watt hand drill, because inner friction was too high to turn it fast enough by hand or other means. The primering procedure also was tricky because of the very large crankcase. The author claimed it was really difficult to be brave enough to rev the engine higher than 3k, the propeller wind was like the wolf blowing the little pigs house.

OOOhhhhhhhh no, Gilles, that would be out of my budget too!!!!!!!! I ,only, could afford a ST710 and a ST540.

I took the pictures at the MECA meeting here in germany last year, it's a very nice anual meeting that regular takes place in the begining of september in a wine resturant in deep hessen. I only can give the advice to try to make a visit next year, they always show a full scale aircraft engine running, normally a rotary radial of WW1 or pre war period.

May I direkt Your interest on the new Seidel website? www.sternmotoren.eu Seidel starts a new try with gas radial engines!

"div. andere Anwendungen" means "for several other purpose", I talked to Mr. Seidel several times about this engine, that purpose, he claims, should be the power for parasuit flyers, full scale, of course.

Imagine a man with this mighty engine on his back! I really would like to see this...

Thanks Gnome,

I was wondering what seidel was doing as is old website has never been really in use (seidel-triebwerke.de oder etwas so).

This meca meeting is interesting. i would really like to see the 14-500 running (maybe flying if someone dare to do it....)

Gilles

Hi all

I have been following this thread since it began but this is my first post. I have just sold my full size Pitts S1S and promised myself once sold I would buy a Seidel 726 for my next RC project.

After seeing the new Seidel website I am now a little concerned the 726 may be no longer available . The diameter of the 726 would have suited my proposed projects perfectly. I see the new 7-250-B is writen as 3150x190 mm on the new website, assuming this is a typo and 315mm diameter is what was ment. This new engine would appear to be 15mm smaller then the 726 at 330mm dia.

Could someone please shed some light on this for me and perhaps point me in the best direction to purchase a 726 or
