Thank You Savex, can You tell the weight and engine that Aero has? I'm a little concerned about the weight and relating approach and landing speed of mine with the 2.8Kg Seidel engine...

Zagi_X, the prop is from www.soloprops.com , it's not only for display but for flying too.

Gnome,

No only does the collector ring have a deeper rumble to it but it cleans up the top end. If you ever had the experience of putting a cross over pipe on a car exhaust or a y-exhaust on a twin motorcycle engine the same thing happens. The engine runs much more smoothly.

That was a great favor you did for everyone here. I would think that at this point that anyone listening to your video comparison is now certain that they are going to have a collector ring on their radial engine. Your videos are simple, well done, to the point, and provide an excellent sound comparison.

Thanks for taking the time to add real value to this thread.

PS,
What type of aircraft is that? is it a Polish design? It's very cool!

Tom, thank You for the regards! And yes, I also think that the ST 710 runs much smoother and sounds more like a full scale radial during idle. Building the collector was really few work, and the exhaust pipe looks very scalish also. The pipes from Krumscheid had a very good fit and solderig with their material was quite easy.

The Aero A 102 is a Chech prototype of the early 30s. I like the planes of that eara very much, the designers were on the way from the the last fast biplanes (do You know the british Hawker Hornet which reached more than 200mph with its Rolls Kestrell supercharger engine?) with open cockpit to the modern fighter planes.

Gnome...

im interested to know your experience with the Solo prop. Would be a nice feature on my my Sist FW-190, with ST770.
Not shure if it would fit.. Could you please take a close-up photo from the side of the hub. Would there be room for a spinner plate behind the hub..?

Not sure of the engine you plan to use but here are a few pix of my solo prop on a KMP Spitfire I am currently working on. Engine is RCV 120 SP, Spinner is Tru Turn.

You will probably have to purchase an adapter ring and nut from Solo for your particular engine. No big deal and not very expensive compared with the rest of the setup. The nut is actually part of a threaded tube that runs onto the drive shaft (you must cut to length) so the hub and prop actually ride on that, quite strong and positive locking.

Cool air will be done by spinner fin entrance as well as Ducting from carb directly to engine. I'm working on machining up a header to a functioning scale exhaust box and stacks. The stacks will be offset from the cowl and will provide cowl air exit. Its possible some of the stacks will be dedicated to cowl heat removal and some to engine exhaust only. I'm building the header now. Here is a link of the KMP forum I'm posting pix in......

Hello Sandman,

here is the close up of the two-blade hub, there is plenty of space for a spinner backplate, but on the 770, isn't the prop fixed by six M4 screws as on my 540? May be that You must change this design by removing the ST770 hub and fit something as on the 710 with single nut prop mount. Probably Mr. Peter from Soloprops has a solution for the ST770.

Again Aluminum Overcast, the RCV 120 SP was my Waterloo, I'm really interrested, how it will work in Your Spit.
