the dollar hasn''t devaluated that much, shipping and fuel costs either but the law of supply and demand......that has a bigger impact. I would also say that the chineese copies can and will drive the costs up. I think it is kind of a reverse psychology thing....I am not a financial genius , but I did sleep at a holiday inn central last nite.

Dharrell, regarding the exhaust ring fit on the OS. I found i had to do a little bit of tweaking to get the exhaust ring on but it was no problem as the headers were flexible enough. only had make small angle adjustments. DWR.

Hello everybody,

my name is Andrea Zambon, I'm from Italy and I've been following this thread for a long time (albeit only as a reader).
I really like these small multi cylinder engines and, more in general, any engine that's not the usual single cylinder two or four stroke (this menas: I like Wankels too ).

As such, I currently own a Saito twin (90TS), and an OS Wankel (49 PI type I), as far as interesting engines are concerned.

Now, I'm planning to get an OS FR5-300 Sirius radial sooner or later, so, as I was surfing the tower hobbies website, I decided to take a look at the spare parts available for this engine. There I discovered that several of these spare parts are marked as "Discontinued". The engine itself is not listed as discontinued, but this discovery had me worried. I tried to confirm this on the Graupner website, but currently the whole OS four stroke section is down (!). So I went to the main OS website and found nothing indicating that the radial is going out of production (it's even listed in the 2008 catalog, although this may not be completely up to date) I even tried to check the japanese web page, but that didn't help either.

So the question is: is the OS Sirius radial going to be discontinued anytime soon? Or am I just paranoid ?

Finally, I apologize for all the mistakes I've surely made in writing the above post. I try to do my best at writing in english, but it's not that easy...

UPDATE: Bax confirmed that the engine is not going to be discontinued anytime soon.

That is rather worrisome, I would agree! Who knows? Best to write to OS Engines themselves.

As for your English writing skills, they are excellent.

Andrea, you could always buy two, that way you would have spare parts.

It's not for the spare parts. My point is that, if the spare parts are being discontinued, maybe also the engine is going to be.
This said, I'd really like to buy two anyway

By the way, very nice Polikarpov!
