This is a very old T-38 kit, fiberglass fuse, foam wings and a lot of guess work with tore up plans and missing parts..I just about got things working. Time to start panel lines, hatches,rivets..and looking for the narrow scale tires..Any good web sites for detailing pics or just anything for this Jet would help.Me and my best friend had started it off and on for years and he resiliently past away suddenly and I decided to finish it in Memory of him because it was his favorite jet..Thanks Todd

Hi Todd
My Name is Paul Hopkins and It so happens I have a set of Air Magic scale wheels and brakes, that I bought some time ago from Air Magic, These I belive is what you are looking for, they fit the Air Magic T38. If you send me a email at JPOFL@aol.com I will forward a picture of what I have and the sizes of the wheels and brakes. I have also built 2 of the Air Magic T38s and 4 of the Bob Fiorenze T38s in fact there is one on the table right now. If I can help I would be happy to do so. I payed $265 for the set from air magic.
Let me know. good Luck Paul Hopkins JPOFL

PS I just went and looked and I do have them. The mains are 2 1/2 and the nose is 2 inch
I will take $175 shipped by US Priority Mail two day.

Buck,

Have you flown a "turbinized" version of this bird. I built the DF one some years back and loved the kit. I always wanted to do one and add a small turbine power plant into it, maybe a p-60.

Any thoughts??

Thanks!!

P.S. Todd, Bird looks great, keep up the great work!!! Everyone needs some mice running around their shop

Hey Kev

actually, I did convert a newer all-composite version to turbine power back in 2000. I put a JDE 54 in her. It weighed 14.5lbs dry with 4 DF fuel tanks, a 16oz main tank and a homemade UAT. plane flew great but.....

it had trim issues that I struggled with airborne, which among a few other variables allowed me to get behind the airplane and unable to keep up with her. I forced a bad approach, got behind the power curve and ended up pulling an Aunt Jemima (to quote Smokin' Joe and his band of merry cirkus freaks)

Ultimately, I over assessed my capability at the time and gooned away a perfectly good airplane. totally avoidable and unnecessary crash.

sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes your the bug. I was definitely the bug on that day but I learned the price of overconfidence.

I would do another bird in a heartbeat if I could get one for the same price I paid for that kit. Get the Rhom Air jet Gear in the for sale section, they drop right in and are a great fit for the plane. you also have to make a horseshoe former that ties the two main load bearing formers thus stiffening the whole wing box structure.

funny thing....this thread has brought back some great memories of my original DF T38 and will likely see me move forward with a project I've been putting off for some time.

Howz the Hornet coming? PM if you want 2

cheers

buck

Hi Todd. I was curious about the Air Magic T-38 kit. Do you have any specs on this model? Wingspan, weight, etc. I know this is smaller than a Miller T-38 kit, but there isn't much on RCU or the web. Thanks, Kurt.

I've got one of the kits

Wingspan is 39" and the length is 72" - plans say the weight is 10 to 12 pounds.

Want to get rid of it if anybody wants one.

Hi,

Have you guys seen the Fiorenze T-38 flying on EVF power on his website? Pretty amazing power for such a big model. Sounds hot, too...

Only picture I have is here:

http://www.glennis.com/clearance.htm

It is the typical glass/foam type kit from the early 90's

didn't realize so many guys were looking for one of these until yesterday.

Hi,
You still have that T-38 kit.
Do you know if the pictures in this t-38 thread above are the same version (air magic) as the one you have?

Thanks,
ERik
