I know its not available yet but I had a few questions

After the charge cycle, will it switch over to trickle automatically and can it be manually forced to trickle a pack without going thru a charge cycle..

Thanks

It will automatically switch to trickle but it does not start in trickle.. You can charge at 100mah (0.1a) though.

Thanks Mike..One more question..Im not sure what kind of programming its officially called but If I use my TX for say 20 minutes and put it on the charger, does it go thru a whole charge cycle and then goto trickle or will it just put back in what was used and then trickle..

Thanks
Joe

Any peak charger will just charge until the pack is full unless it is discharged first.

I have an additional question....How many charging ports does the LN 4014 have? Can you charge more than one battery at a time?

Thanks,

Kevin

It has one charging port. The only way to charge more than one pack is to connect similar packs in the same discharged state together in series or parallel. For example... the 5014 can handle up to 14 cells or 5S Lipo up to 5A. Therefor you could connect two 7 cell packs together in series and charge both in the same time it would take to charge one. The same would go for LiPo in series or parallel if you can increase the current. For example you could charge 5 1000mah Lipo connected in parallel at 5A in the same time it takes to charge one at 1A (1C) but you need to make absolutely sure the cells are the same and at the same voltage when you start or you could run into problems.

Does this charger have the ability to have its software upgraded for future revisions?
Thanks.

I don't beleive so, but then again, I don't beleive any chargers in this price range are capable of that either.

No to both questions but I have to say that charging is very easy and straight forward and the case acts as a heatsink.

Mike,
What voltage will this charger charge a 2 cell lithium pack? 8.4V? I have an apache charger and it only charges to 8.28volts. I know not a big difference but I don't like that. Also what if you have a 2 cell pack whose voltage is below 6 volts. Will it charge that pack or give an error since the voltage is too low?
Thanks,
Matt

All Lipo chargers should charge a 2S pack to 8.4V. So yes, it does.

It should be okay unless the pack has an issue. The resting voltage of a 2S lipo should be above 6V even if it was discharged below that.

Mike.

How old are the batteries? What is the charge rate?

Mike.

the batteries are not new, but not old either.... i have a few sets of batteries, these batteries are about 6months old and would of been charged previosly max 20 times using either a 1.5ah analogue charger or a slow 70mah wall charger...

i have tried charging these 1800mah batteries at 1a/hr and at 1.8a/hr they charge for about 4minutes then says its full.....
