1/4 scale SIG J3 Cub with 46" Sig floats

have only got it to a few inches above the water so far - still feeling it out

Getting up on the step has been no problem as this plane has an OS FS-160 twin!

cheers
Peter

Have been looking for some help with floats and float rudders. Your rudders seem to be fixed and there are reports of them tearing off during landings????
I'm planning on using the Sea Commander floats on a H-9 1/4 scale Super Cub.

Comments,Help????

Regards.....

argon,
this may be true about the rudders tearing off. I'm a novice seplane flyer so can't comment on how they will hold up. The floats are the SIG 46" ones for the Cub and in fact the kit only has the 1 rudder but I added the extra one.

If I run into probs I will retrofit retractable rudders.

cheers
Peter

Thanks for the quick response. The question is how to do the retractable rudders. Hope your landings are smooth and don't need them, keep me posted.
Have not flown RC for 25 years and it is not like riding a bicycle, going through the learning process with a flight simulator and will get a .60 trainer soon. Happy Landings.

the rudder on my moth is a kick-up design and it has a hardpoint attachment at the top of the rudder and at the bottom it uses a rubber band to allow it to kick up if it hits anything then come back down

How about a close up of the machanism, I would imagine it is a similar concept used in daysailers, where the rudder is held down by a bungee cord in a similar fashion.

Thanks.Regards and Happy Landings

Argon they are Ernst products rudders and come in two sizes, they are probably the best rudders you can buy for floats.
