THANKYOU! My book of jet aircraft has all sorts of great designs to borrow from. Most of them would be pretty bulky and complex, especially the kind with the side intakes. The fun now is to break down the curvy shape to its' basic elements, and do so with as few pieces as possible. Some really light balsa from 1/4" on down really helps make these types of projects look good without weighing alot.

So what you're saying is that you'll have a flight report for us by Sunday evening?

Looks great CP - I wish I had half the imagination that you do...

Andrew, I hate to say this but my number came up down at the union hall, and I took a job that starts tomorrow . The location was too good to pass on, it's a nearby school. The dispatch is for 7 x 10 hour days and it is supposed to last until the end of AUGUST. If the situation was different, I would have passed on it, but I gotta make hay........

This is how I spent my last day of freedom. The fuselage is built around 4 oval shaped formers and a 1/8" ply firewall. The planking is all 3/32". The plane is basically all framed up and it weighs 4.4 ozs. I still have to cut the wing hold down / access hatch in, mount servos, linkages, etc. So the heaviest stuff is yet to be done. The wing panels are 6" at the root and 4" at the tips. The panels are 15" long x 1/4" thick. The tail feathers are 3/16" It would be hard to imagine building a fuselage like this with out thin CA. Back before there was CA, you guys must have REALLY loved this hobby!

Sorry to hear you can't make it but I guess that sometimes you have to work instead of playing with toys.

The new plane looks fast just sitting there.

Last year my number came up while my son was home on leave, so at least this year that didn't happen, we just went through almost 4 gallons of fuel flying mostly .15 diesels and various small glow powered stuff in the three weeks he was here.

I like the jet like look of that C.P.
Sorry to hear you have to work. . I have moved house and now I have my lathe less than 10m from where I sleep
May be now some of us can start to cut into your "number of planes built" lead.

HI JM, nice to hear from you! Well, I was starting to get tired of building planes anyway. I've got unfinished business with a GZ .061 plane. I'm on P/L set #3 now, and when this one burns up, that's going to be it for a while, the GZ will become a paper weight. You might not go quite as fast with a CYCLON or FORA, but that level of performance is pretty good and those engines just run and run. It's so much easier to design a plane for open exhaust too! One of these days, you're going to have to start up another project. Did you get your racer to where you like it?

Hi
Nope, not really.
I should come clean and say that the new piston liner set I got is dead- I stuffed the piston lightening it. I`ll have to get a new set but I have moved house and am pretty tied up with other stuff right now. But some time in the not to distant future I hope to get it in the air, along with the MiG.

Here's the other unfinished thread, along with an unfinished plane. What will set this thread apart is I plan on hopping up the .074 with a few simple tricks. I don't think any of us here have violated the innards of the .074. They run so good, you would almost have to be nuts to want to take a DREMEL to one of them little jewels. So what? Anyone want to see an AME .074? The plane is sporting 29.5" of span. The fuselage was built with formers and sheet sides. Once the fuselage shaping was complete, then it was layered with 3/4 oz cloth and polyU. Then the formers were removed. The fuselage is cavernous for a semi 1/2A. I need to install ailerons and finish glassing it. Then look into a camoflage paint sceme.
