Hello,

I never tried one. We designed the plane for cannisters. I know you could look to modify it but it would be a little work. Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks

John

Hello,

I have no experience with that motor. If it has the power equivilent of a 3W50 or DA50cc motor then yes. If not I would not use it.

Thanks
John

I notice from the pictures on the your web site that an aluminum wing tube is used. Are there, or will there be carbon tubes available anywhere? Also, will you have the pefa canisters and appropriate header for the DA? Any power improvement with the Pefa or is it more a less a muffling device?

Thanks

Hello,

The tube is a 1" aluminum. So anything that is aftermarket would work. The K&S Header system is in pieces so you can make it the way you need for your application. We installed the cannister to show that the Yak will accomodate a cannister with little to do. Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks

John

Troy Built Models has 1" CF tubes. I just bought one and it's nice looking. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet though.

John:

Will the DA50 and Slimline Pitts Style muffler work with the YAK?

Thanks,

Hello,

Yes it will work. You may have to put some exhaust extentions on the muffler, but thats simple with some aerotrend tubing and some zip ties. Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks

John:

Thanks for the info. This looks very similar to the TOC YAK, with reports coming out in the higher end (around 18lbs) of the weight scale. Is this the same model? I'm concerned the finished weight will be much more then advertised. Your engine mount looks somewhat different, but overall there seem to be many simularities. If using the DA50, are standoffs required?

I sent you folks an email with some more detailed questions, and would appreciate hearing back on those.

Thanks!

Hello,

No its a totally different company and its built based on my larger Yaks. Now with weights in mind. Weights can and will vary. Our Prototype was under 17lbs. Can we expect some planes in the 17lb range sure. Weights will vary on every manufacturer. I go to a range based on our experience with wood being heaiver than others, setups will never be the same etc. You can name many ways a plane will gain weight. Any plane with a DA50 at 18lbs will perform. The exception is at higher altitudes when they will suffer more.

The stock DA standoffs must be used. I believe they are 2 1/2" long. Also when did you send the email I havent seen it yet. Were working out of the shop today during this storm.

Thanks
John
