    Status: offline     		I don't know what's wrong with this forum but I answered Chop last night but my post isn't here.

    Anyway I am afraid of the foamies as I am running a pretty high headspeed and they have a history of exploding! The Walkera fiberglass ones have no airfoil at all and generally suck.They also tend to explode!
    I went ahead and ordered the CFs from Hobbycity and I'll let you know how they are when I get them. I got excited when I checked out as they showed shipping from the US but they wound up coming from China.

    I just measured my fwd flight current draw using DF36 blades cut to 245mm on my CP2-BT. 743mah in 9 minutes. That comes out to about 83 ma per minute at 2100 - 2200 rpm. 450g AUW and driving a belt tail. Not bad huh ? You should see it out climb my MX400 and DF36.
    I may try some work on these blades. This is real, I am not just blowing phosphors or twisting crystals at you.

    Gimme some time and I'll have that heli generating power.

    Sorry about the "mishap". From your pic it doesnt look like you broke the skin on the lipo. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just fine.

    THat's impressive. Are you flying indoors or is the wind that calm there? My 400s are grounded and the 450 has been flown barely because of the wind. I have excellerated the Cobra prodject and am almost ready to break in the engine! If it can't cope with the wind I am giving up on helis!

    Status: offline     		The wind is up and down, I charge up and often as soon as I put the heli on the pad, the wind starts up. I like that little CP2-BT. the _BT is what I appended to indicate Belt Tail mod. I like it a lot and it's a nice slow flier that can take tight turns be slow and truely gentle or go wild. Personally, this little chuahua ain't no 400 in stability and seems toyish but it flies nice and can run on $12 1300 mah 3 cells. It will float around in a gentle breeze, but the CP head is a big help.
    It's my warmup heli. BTW, I guess my crash may have been from tree pollen making me disoriented. I have an awful allergy. As soon as I step outside, my eye water and I get dizzy, then start sneezing. I hadn't been sick from anything for about 3 years.

    Guess what ? Blade 400 main gears can be modded to fit the 36. You may as well get the one without the one-way because it has to be reversed, and you don't want to press em in and out much. A sloppy press can make it wobble.

    Gotta go blow.

    I tried discharging 6 1/2 amps into a resistor bank and the battery got slightly warm for the first time. I intend to give it some testing. I'd hate to loose a heli to a bad battery or endanger someone. Only the external shrink wrap got split, but the battery looks worse in the real world than in the photo.

    It was good to get to fly though!

    Status: offline     		Now here is a hot topic: Scorpion Motors. I got mine in Saturday but was only able to test one battery. Usually when I get back in, I will have 3.785v/cell, now 3.86v/cell. That is about what Innov8tive Designs said to expect, a ~25% increase in efficiency. I also got 2700 rpm on first spinup with the same throttle settings, I was at 2350 before, I had to drop from 95% power to 74% . But I also went from 3000 to 3125kv.
    And when I got back the motor was only slightly WARM not hot with 66* OAT. OAT = Outside Air Temp.
    The motor is the Scorpion HK2208-28. Weighed 41g with the connector installed. $32 + $5 s&h. That's probably my brand now. The windings are glued in with something to keep them from vibrating and chafing the insulation.

    Do you glue the stock blades somewhere or something to keep them from comming apart?

    Also the Skorpion motors are the hot ticket with the Trex guys now. The Comet came with what looks like a JGF 400 but what ever it is it's no good and I was thinking of trying the Skorpion -6 motor. Is the one you have smaller?
