Wow Chopchop, sounds like they really got your goat.

Are they serial pests??

Of course.. it also brings up the whole "kids these days have no respect" kinda deal. The least they could do is show a little interest in what you're doing.

Rollin Thunder -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/23/2008 5:46:42 AM)

Junk

Not sure how big your RX is but I had an easy time mounting the Telebee to my Berg RX. Try to mount the gyro under the boom block. It'll be safer and closer to the axis there.

On a side note. The truth is more like "Parents these days!" Nearly no structure or discipline to speak of. If a kid cant count on there own parents for guidance why the hell would they have any respect for adults?

Heheheheh mate! That is SO TRUE! I dunno about over there but here you can't even hit your kids when they are being obscenely vulgar!!

Then theres the decay of decent society and those whinging whiney me me me Generation Y'ers and generation ME ME ME.

Some kids just deserve a sound flogging.

Anyway! Thanks for that Rollin, I have that new Spektrum AR6200 that comes with the DX6i which is tiny.

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/23/2008 10:02:17 PM)

It is not just kids. I will damage some of their property and see if they stay calm. What are the bets they will not ?
This garbage has been going for four years. Naw, I won't pee in their pool etc., I have always has everyone's trust. Everyone seems genetically linked here and I'm the black sheep of the family. [:D] Because I'm Such a distant breed like 1000'th cousin or something. [>:]
Seriously, it must be something to do with my new flying ability. The similar stuff started when I got a 450SA.
The semi 3D with my CP2-BT seems to have triggered it this time. I seem to have gotten some resistance from all sides since I de-evolutionized down to it. The 36 is old faithful and I just don't have much to write about it.

Last theory, they haven't seen me out there with a cigarette for a month and may be trying to upset me and make me smoke again. I will not this time, not after seeing those throat cancer photos and surgery videos. It's SERIOUS to quit smoking. We can't see the reality of it.

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/23/2008 10:24:52 PM)

I just checked my tally on the 2nd DF36, and I have 620 flights on the cheap piece of junk that seems to keep on flying. Cheap junk as some say ? I wore out 2 and working on my 3rd main gear, plus some head links and balls, most have been converted to Align Stainless steel balls/links long ago. It's the main blade grip to mixing arm link that wore out a few flights ago. I got 620 flights out of that link set.
I previously wore out the pitch rod blocks in 60 flights or so, but since polishing the shaft slot, I have 500 or so flights on this one. Oh, and I did find and replace a worn set of tail shaft bearings about a week ago.

NO COMPLAINTS !

Hi Chopchop

When you say 'pitch rod blocks' and polishing the shaft slot, can you show me which part you are referring to?

Cheers

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/24/2008 1:09:43 AM)

It's the slot near the top of the main shaft under that slider block, called the washout base. I'll get details later if you can't find it. You should keep the gyro on the side opposite to blade rotation, they can fold on an impact and whack the gyro. Back a few pages I show the location.

Things don't seem so bad now, I was switching from 21 to 14mg patches and the lower nicotine sneaked up on me and made me sort of sensitive.
I am in one of the worst places in the world to quit smoking. Tobacco central, Kentucky. Really cute and giggly to get your throat stuff cut out.

babyhuey -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/24/2008 12:48:21 PM)

Hi Guys,
I'm back after crashing both the 36 and the computer! Actually the computer is fine it was my internet provider that crashed.
After the last crash my 36 is actually better! I must have unbent the main shaft a little as it's smoother now.[:D]

WOW!

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/24/2008 9:32:26 PM)

Funny, you have a bent main shaft and that plastic rotor T that wobbles. Try them together, and rotate the T 180* and maybe the wobblers will cancel. [:D]

Junkz0r -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/25/2008 12:42:29 AM)

Hey dudes.

Putting the frame back together last night and noticed that the "steering holder" A arms are a little stiff/binding, even after a dab of grease. Any tips on loosening these up or are they supposed to be tight.

I've attached a pic of the part. The actual centre pivot point is fine and I've performed the ball link mod on it, it's just the A arms that are tight.

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/25/2008 3:03:17 AM)

The two halves are either too tight or misaligned. You need to loosen the assembly screws and manipulate the halves until the arms swing freely, then re-tighten until the assembly is rigid with the arms free to swing.

I found powdered graphite works better than silicone on this plastic. You can work the graphite into the plastic like as a polish, then it lasts a longer time.

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/25/2008 3:13:21 AM)

Well, I got to fly tonight with no pestering. I don't mean for everyone to tiptoe, just some reasonable respect. I do think my nerves were exaggerated by the lower nicotine level of the 14mg patch, down from 21mg. It seems less difficult to go from no smoking to 21mg patches than 21mg to 14mg. That's where I failed the last two tries, but finally made it this time. And now I'm fairly well adjusted to the lower nicotine. Someone else may experience a different result.
What a worthless drug. It cost me $130 or more/month to smoke. Now I have +$130 for my heli crack addiction. A much better addiction, that adrenaline is.

What happens if you are smoking while hovering, and the tail rotor clips your cigarette ? It would blow sparks all over you. [:D]
Or suppose a too close fly-by and the main rotor clips the cigarette ? Then sparks would blow all down your frontside.

Ch

babyhuey -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/25/2008 4:13:33 AM)

That would be flying too close for comfort! I don't think that my cig would be my first worry!
Of course I smoke cigars. They're longer.[:D]

Rollin Thunder -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/25/2008 4:49:17 AM)

Hey guys! I need an up close birds eye pic of the rocker assembly. I need it to be in the same pose as the one in this pic. I'll use it to illustrate one of my old mods. I'll also be unveiling a new one. PM me for an email address. Chop, your camera is great at close shots. Got a spare rocker lying around? Cya!

PS. This is what was left from my last 36 crash. After every crash I would build it better than before. But considering the devastation, I decided to let it die. But hey! Then I used those parts along with parts from 6 other helis too create my wonderful FP36!

Heheheh I too am a smoker.. Working up the nerve to quit (again) and christ you're right.. its VERY expensive to smoke in Australia over 11 bux a packet here!

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/26/2008 2:04:04 AM)

RT, do you mean a big ol huge photo of the elevator swash rocker assy ? They call it HM-036-Z-31 Steering Holder .
And do you need it longwise vertically ? There is also the flybar rocker.

It may take several attempts to quit smoking. I am on my fourth. I have made it farther than my last two attempts. The first one lasted 6 months, I tried one cig and that was it. I started again. Nevermore.
I just had a physical today, along with a lung X-ray, throat exam. No signs of any cancer, if I quit now, I probably will not get it. I do not have as much sensitivity to the carcinogen as some people. Some who use chew or Skoal get gum/lip cancer in around 15 years.
Just think about the scalpel going down into the throat and cutting your flesh away. And holding that buzzer to your neck to talk.
I feel SO GOOD when I breath now, so effortless ! I love it. The wheeze was 90% cured within a week.
Now if I could only get my back back to normal, I could go back to work and get a large heli like a Raptor 50 or 90, maybe a Predator, and convert it to a gasser. They are around, Predator gassers. Not as hot as nitro, but I'll take the cost of gasoline over $30/gallon nitro fuel or 10S3P lipos ! You can even fly by and see the tank to guage fuel. Main problem ? Thats a BIG heli and pretty dangerous. I am not so scared of my 300's or 400's at all. I think their bark is worse than their bite.

Rollin Thunder -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/26/2008 2:41:17 AM)

Chop

Yes the elevator rocker. It would help if it were laid out like the stock parts pic. I don't have any stock rockers. Both of mine have been modded for the FP. Now I'll test my susceptibility to carcinogens. Going out for a smoke[:'(] hehehe.[:D]

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/26/2008 4:43:25 AM)

Nice thing for me is I don't have to take a pack of cigs with me where ever I go . I am free !

Chophop -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/26/2008 4:58:35 AM)

Hopefully this will work.
One is large, and the 1/2 size should show more detail.

Ooh so close. Could you flip it over like this, but with a more straight down shot? Full size is fine. Thanks!

babyhuey -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/27/2008 5:09:55 AM)

Does anyone know what the KV is for the Scorpion HK 2221-8?

Thanks

Rollin Thunder -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/27/2008 5:33:25 AM)

BH

3595kv............ Damn that's a lot for the 36 gear setup. You'll need the smallest pinion you can find. You should be able to limit the motor with the curves and such. The best range for the 36 is 3000kv - 3200kv.

babyhuey -> RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36 (7/27/2008 5:53:50 AM)

It's not for my 36 although I am running the 3550 kv 430L on the 36 with an eleven tooth pinion and it is great. Easy on batteries with good power.
The Scorpion is for my Comet.

Thanks
