Hey guys

Bill Fugitive, I have received a few parts for my 36 the other day from China, the only problem there is that I have already sold it. If you supply your mailing address I can send them to you. ONLY small parts like that block thing I was having all the trouble with and a few little parts.
I got my Trex 500 last week and have assembled it, now it is at the hobby store having the electrics wired up and configured.

Cheers
O.D.

Hey OrganDonor,

I'm not going to say no to freebies (Organ Donations!!), no matter how small if your willing to part with them and send them. I'll PM you my home address. If your close enough and drop in, there is beer involved!

When you get your T-Rex back, you'll have put a picture of it up on the forum.
What size a 500 wasn't it? - Nice.
(I was thinking of getting one of those $35 450 size barebones jobs from HK and putting my electronics
in it WHEN I write the #36 off!)

Bill!

Well no SD card so still no video,BUT,I do now have a working gyro, and I mean properly working.Gotta hand it to csm their gyro is nice..HUGE..but nice.Had to make up a tray from the superskids rear arm between the tail struts to take it. Mounted on the top it was soooooo close to the paddles and flybar it was just asking to get ripped off in the first slightly hard landing.(and it looked crap too ) At least I know why csm now make "micro" versions of all their gyros. The standard size really needs like a 60-90 size heli before it looks in scale!! So surfin ebay for a micro version for the future.Tail is really "locked in" now and rate mode needs no revo mix or anything.Brilliant! Just waiting on hobbyking to get those 0.06 cheapo digital servos back in stock next week and I'm sorted. If I get bored later I'll post a photo of the gyro..looks like the heli is carrying cargo underneath it!

Michael,

Got the parts you sent at 7am Tuesday.

They will come in handy, I've added them to my #36 parts box.

I noticed the tail boom has had a slight main blade strike, but very light.
I've got 2 with strikes a LOT worse than that, it will make a good spare though.
The 'main shaft sleeve' (just happened to a new one, mine is worn) and 'ball linkage set' are always great spares to have.

Thanks for all that!!

Cheers, Bill!

well heli is flying nice, side hovers nice and steady now,no panic attacks (well almost none) flying in idle-up1 as well so I can get it down out the sky when the wind takes it too.The suitcase gyro works perfect.Tiny amount of drift in AVCS but negligible. Was flying it this afternoon with a nasty 25mph gusting tail wind and it held perfectly steady.Got rid of the radio glitch with a revolution base loaded antenna, fits so much easier than the 40" wire OEM antenna and if it diminishes the range a bit well I'm never likely to fly a heli that far away! I'm just waiting for a digital servo for the tail when hobbyking has them back in stock (maybe next week).I'm hoping I can up the gain a bit on the gyro with a faster servo without getting wag and hopefully lose even the tiny amount of drift. chopchop - thanks for pointing me to the scorpion motor..what a lovely piece of kit!!!! Plenty of power and only draws 18A/200W max. Thats just over half what most of the Trex recomended motors draw.getting easy 11 minute flights and only putting around 1750mah back into the battery. The $15 Imax batteries I bought rock so far.barely warm after a flight and after a dozen or so cycles seem to be settling down.took a little more mah to charge them up again for the first few cycles.I guess they need a few cycles to "run in " the lipo.ok pics!!

Good day Folks,
I have just bought a 2nd hand 36 to add to my existing one. It has an older version of the TX and RX. The TX has only 10 Dip switches and the RX is marked Rx -0602. My problem is that the brushless motor will not start until the throttle lever is almost at 50%. The heli came with a second RX, and the same happens using that. I have changed the ESC to a Mystery Pentium 30A and still the problem occurs. If I move the throttle trim UP to maximum, the motor will then start just as I move the throttle lever.

Any help would be great....Thank you
Paul

I would get a better radio system. That heli is a bit more powerful than you think, and you just shouldn't gamble on a not so good radio. I'm sure you can do MUCH better and get a progammable one , and if budget is the limit, a good used one can be found. It will fly SO much better with an advanced control system.

I just hit my 1000'th flight on my 36. Friday March 13, 2009. Up to 2003 now, it started raining this morning, the day AFTER Friday 13th.
Zero crashes on this one and still in near new condition. Sport fliers get a break on wear cost.
1000 flights is equal to 150 hours of flight. A joke in the real aircraft world.

WOW..nice one chopchop..I'm up to 50+ flights now and only broke one mixing lever and the flybar balance shaft..both now replaced with metal parts..only problem I have is sometimes one or two of my batteries seem to be giving me radio glitches..If I change batteries it stops glitching immediately..generally the motor seems to cut for a split second or the tail swings violently or the pitch servo glitches and I drop 15 feet rapidly before recovering..strange thing is if I recharge the battery again it generally goes away..really weird.I'm going 2.4ghz soon anyway so that should be the end of the radio glitches however they are caused. Anyone else had this problem?

seems like I'm talking to myself here..oh well nothing new there then ).

As I'm bored and can't fly owing to the 50-65mph gusting winds outside I thought I'd post a pic or two of the slightly revamped #36.

New csm sl630 gyro - incredible piece of kit and probably way too good for this heli.New carbon and alloy t-rex tail boom supports - got tired of the bits of bent metal tube walkera fit as standard.Superskids with the stiffening and raising inserts.Nice carbon tail fin and stabilizer.Latest profiled plastic t-rex tail blades. Not sure these are any better in flight than the fibreglass ones I had before but they certainly mow the lawn without cracking which is a bonus! Also fitted an alloy flybar balancer shaft after I broke my 3rd plastic one and some alloy mixing levers. These were all made for the #37 but fit just the same and were really cheap.Only had to tap out the holes as the #37 used "Z" bends rather than ball linkages ...

Am reduced to using my spare nitro buggy throttle servo (hitec 5925)for the tail as the sl630 is digital only and it's all I have till my order gets here from hobbycity. It's fast enough at 0.1sec but I think 8kg might be overdoing it a bit.had to drop my flight times by a minute as it sucks power..ahem! Bit worried it might just rip the tail off if there is a problem.

I'm thinking a set of carbon paddles as the orange plastic now looks very naff. Then I'm going to fly it till I run out of spares for the head and tail or win some cash , whichever comes first , and then get the metal head and tail from xmseller.price of those has dropped a few dollars but still $150..ouch..

Oh and I solved my battery RF glitch problem..dumb really..I had turned the batteries upside down so the power wires ran along the bottom of the frame and well away from any chance of rubbing on the outrunner motor..good idea I thought but I forgot the RX is just underneath.Apparently it didn't like the power leads just 1.5mm of carbon fibre away from it and went nuts! Turned the batteries back the other way up and routed the wires a bit more carefully and it is now a happy RX again.Wish I'd found that out before I spent an evening resoldering all my deans connectors onto my batteries again.Oh well you live and learn.

Gizma,

Don't worry, we are all reading. I post in heap of forums and often feel like talking to myself as well
but you'll find heaps of people are actually reading the posts, but just have nothing to reply with or your post itseft is retorcic.

Problem with most Walkera Heli forums is that everyone is slowly waking up and moving over Align to T-Rex's so things end up slowing.

I looked that gyro up you got, it's nice looking and sounds like it will work great.

http://www.trextuning.com/csm630.php

All I've done lately with my #36 is add CF tail blades and sprayed the white paddles Gloss Black - (I agree with you - those Orange ones you've go got look terrible! - spray 'em black or something!)

Might do something about the colour of the fins, maybe spray them green/yellow to match the canopy.

I'll send a pic next message (when I've put the CF tail blades on and the black paint is dry on the paddles back on.)

B!

hehe bill ..I know you're all still out there really. The csm sl630 is awesome. The pirouette rate is savage! , and it stops like it hit a wall with no bounce at all. Really it's wasted on the #36 but it will be there for when I get something better.Probably an SJM500 from hobby city next year.Really like the look of it and the price is reasonable.I paid €80 for the sl630 (about 100 bucks) inc delivery.Brand new in box.But after a couple of crappy cheap gyros I thought "sod it!".I like my #36 it's stable enough for learning on and fast enough to get into trouble with, but it's still pretty cheap to repair.I could probably spend half the cost of the SJM on alloy head and tail upgrades..see how I feel when the money is available.I like being able to get main blades for €15 for 10 pairs!! The 500's cost twice that for one pair and I clip things fairly often. Oh well my mate over the road has just bought an SJM so maybe I'll fly that and see if it's really worth going up to a 500 or not.Besides buggy race season starts in 2 weeks so my focus will shift away from the heli for the summer although I hope to still fly most days.

I am going to sell my "bare bones" DF36.It is complete but the tail rotor needs to be installed. I had a cnc trex tail on it that I want to keep.I also have a lot of new spare parts. Xtra blades, 2 tail booms,2 drive belts, fly bar, inner shaft, tail rotor control rod, new skid assembly, tail rotor parts, main blade holders, main shaft sleeve, control rods..Plus a lot of used but good parts. Metal head upgrade, sonic head upgrade(I think all the parts for it are there),used but good blades( need to be matched up) . If anyone is interested, pm me for a list before I put it on ebay.
Reason for selling, I have a trex 450 and a copterx 450 and df4 for laughts.

Yeah I'm still around too!
I haven't been flying the 36 since I've gotten into nitro and I also have gotten the Comet straightened out. In fact I got the 36 out the other day and it seems to have developed problems from just hanging on the wall!
Oh well I'm still interested in what you guys are doing so I keep dropping in to catchup but it has really slowed down here. It's better than Helifever though as that forum has died completely since they lost the Walkera posts.
Anyway I'm thinking about turning a 36 into an indoor flyer since it doesn't like the wind and I now have a new 45000 square foot building at work to fly in.
Later,
Huey

Still flying mine, and it handles 10-15mph but with some work. Replaced the HS-56HB tail servo at 1040 flights. The old one was getting a bit weak on the fine corrections. Only little 5* wiggles, but did the hard stuff ok. Now no little wiggles at all.
Try a 5 or 10mph head wind, give some pitch up cyclic and a good pump of collective. Like a rocket, that thing can be up there out of sight in a finger snap.
Sometimes when it gets too windy, I sort of surf the wall of headwind, sort of sliding back-forth sideways along it.

I'm getting braver about flying in the wind also. There are some things that you can only do in the wind if you pay attention. Like towering stall turns!

Hi I jus got my Walkera 36b and crashed it the first 5mins of flight. I replaced the main rotor blades and need to replace the main gear. I have it but can't seem to get the main rotor out. It pulls up but something is keeping it from coming all the way out. Then I need to figure out how to get the main gear replaced. Can someone guide me in the right direction?

There are 2 set screws on the bottom of the main gear that have to be removed. Also, the inner rod needs to be disconnected.Than the main shaft should come out.The only way I know of to get the main gear out is to take apart the frame.Take notice of the bearing stack. If you have a digital camera, you may want to take some pictures so you will have an idea how it goes back together.

Hi huey and chopchop nice to hear fom you guys again..was learning some wind flying myself but the purchase (cheaply) of a top end digital only gyro and the use of my buggy hitec 5925 9kg servo (only spare dig servo at the time) ATE battery power in high winds...rock stable tail but the servo was burning flight times down to 7 minutes from 11 keeping it that way...anyway my MKS DS480 0.064 s servo arived 10 days ago but befor i could test it I had to be rushed into hospital with some unknown (and nearly fatal) abdominal infection...anyway 10 days in intensive and now I'm home and haven't the strength to hold the frikkin TX steady let alone fly....BOY AM I BORED NOW!!

Giz, Sorry to hear that you were sick. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Geniune2, We all have gone through the first crash! Usually very soon after the first startup! Sometimes the main shaft will have a few burrs on it and that will cause it to hang up on the bearings on the way out. I've had to drop it down and dress it with a file to get them out and sometimes I've had to drive it out with an old shaft.

Hay giz, hope you are feeling better.I had that happen to me in Jan. A week in the hospital, IV's and morphine shots. The only good thing, I lost 10 pounds and kept most of it off.
