Yeah, A good radio is worth it's weight in gold!
The flybarless thing didn't work out. After a lot of tuning and trying I got it into the air and it went into an uncontrollable nose up attitude and ended in a hard landing. I've shelved it for now but am going to try again later.

Ah thats a pitty hope not too much dammage done  but hey you gotta try these things :-) Im looking at getting a new CB180d to replace the 4G1b that i just sold ... the 180 has its fly bar set at 45* and is only weighted ( no paddels )

Im using a Turborix 2.4ghz Tx/Rx on one of my #36's and its been interesting for me as this is the first programable Tx  ( need a computer on hand to do set up)  and yep ive set it to 90* swashplate as well the 120* set up works for the #60 and Hk450 swash set ups ( hey amaizing think I jagged something right hehehehe)

Bartleph what gyro are you using on the HK??

Have fun all

Happy-dingo.... Well I haven't bought a gyro specifically for the HK450 yet, but to my surprise it stays really steady using one of the 36s Walkera G010... I have got a telebee on one of the 36s, and didn't really want to swap it over yet, hence the reason why the G010 is on the HK450.

You have to remember I am a complete novice, and hovering is about as much as I can control at the moment, so anything that keeps the nose pointing forward is probably good to go!! I've been following the discussions on gyros and it seems there are some reasonably priced recommended models. We are just about to go into Mail Delivery Strikes here in the UK, so I am loathe to order much at the moment for fear of it ending up in a skip somewhere. With windy and cold weather coming up in the next few months, I think my flying is going to have to wait till springtime...

I guess I can dream about it though!!

Hehehehe yeah I keep dreaming of the day that I can get a helli to hover even, one would think for a bloke who owns 8 helli's he could fly one ... but hey im getting very quick at fixing them and have found some wonderful suppliers of parts .... Ive just received WK-G011 as Ive heard that Walkera have got it right with this one and its made to suit the 2.4ghz Tx/Rx Ive also ordered all new E-Sky EK2-0508 digital servo's and cnc metal upgrades for my 2- #36's.
Im not happy with the colco GY400 that ive got on at the moment ..so ill see what happens when i swap it over with the G011 hope it improves things ... all I want is for every thing to work get it looking nice and then sell it

Were suppose to be comming into summer here but had 4inches of snow 2 days ago and the wind hasnt let up for the last month so its been a bit frustrating to get a fly in (or at least try to fly hehehe) suppose thats why in getting the CB180d its small enough to fly indoors
Have fun all

Happy-Dingo,

Yup the weather sure does suck here at the moment it's driving me nuts. We get a couple of nice almost summer days, then back to weeks of winter cold and wind. What a hassle.

Do you have a Co-ax heli? - I have a Lama IV and E-Flite Blade CX2 which I've bound to the DX6i and practice on that while I mourn over my latest bent 'real' heli and wait for parts. They (coax) are cool, because I just back the car out of the shed and float the CX around few battey packs, practicing nose in and spot landings, just to calm the nerves of having just spent another $100 bucks on spares. Plus I do as much flying on RealFlight G3.5 as can without getting overly bored with it.

My #36 and HK-T500 are not going, I have the parts, but due to my healh, cold weather and being just plain lazy they are out of commision. I guess I could crank up the 'ol #22, but I hate it, it's dead stock and the radio, well I just don't trust it.

-B!

Ahh well Bill when the summer does get here we'll be wishing for winter again ( the heat n i dont get on to well
havent got a coax .. Im waiting on the CB180d for indoor flying when it gets here (on back order atm).... Im flying my 76c inside atm, as ive just sold the 4G1B.  Ive got 2, 36's ones going the other waiting for new TX and metal upgrade ... I hear you on the glitchy radio's they are bloody dangerous as i can afford it im changing everything over to 2.4   much safer.

Ive sorted out the tail spin problem that ive had as well I had too much pitch on my main blades which in turn was slowing the head speed... Thus not getting enough speed to the tail rotor .... so with a lot of time swapping parts, a bit of thinking (not too much of that it hurts ,,,hehehehe) and a whole lot of luck ive finally got the tail to stay put

have Fun All
Dingo

I'm trying to fly a WK 36 Flybarless no electronic stabilization.

I build the heli using old spare parts and configurate it flybarless in my own version.

The fisrt attempt was catastrofic because i have not reduce the servo travel for Elevator and Aileron. The heli was uncontrolable.

Now i have reduce the arm long for the servos and i have improve the control, but still not sufficient.

I know tht for pith adjust I should use -10º to +10º, but:

FOR EXPERTS
How many degrees should move in elevator and aileron? I'm using +/- 4º but I'm not sure if it's too much.

Thanks for your answer.

I send you some pictures for the heli.

Hi Guys!

I just have cheap old HXT/Towerpro/Turnigy 9g up front and 5g with a cheap Assan GA4109on the tail (they are slightly faster than the 9gram).

These days I'm sinking my money into bigger heli's like the T-500 and EDF Jets with the bells and whistles bling.

My next project is going to be an A380 (see pic) from Hobby King, can't wait until I can afford one of those suckers and do it right up.
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10443
Just bought some nice 'servoless' retracts for it, when I get it, in the mean time the retracts will be going on my GWS A4 Skyhawk.

Nice to see a few of you guys still monitoring this thread!!

-Cheers Bill!

Also here's a pic of the new field/strip that our club are building. It's getting there slowly - and link to the club Web Site - that I host.

Cool Bill, I just got the TREX600 ESP. The build is very easy, the manual is very helpful. Just forgot to put CA on the torque tube before assembling it. Now, I have to disassemble it and re-build it again.

At the field, the guys are telling me that now Lipo batteries are getting cheaper, not too sure where they buy them. I got my nose in flight right now. No more crashes. Can't wait to go inverted...

Thats Cool Man!

I'm still crashing like a champion, thats why I'm leaning towards airplanes for a while to give my wallet a rest on the heli spare parts!!

Here a pic of some of my fleet as it stands. (I'm lying a bit, the T-600 ESP is a friends)

Both the 500 or 600 have only done quick hovers so far, then I (we) get scared and land!

What type of simulator you got? I have realflight G4.5, and I spend a lot of time on the heli orientation trainer. I found out that it is much easier to transition into a new orientation/trick if you always can go quickly to a comfort stage.

For example, I practiced side hover first, then if I screw up in nose in, I can transition into side hover in half turn. I crashed in my first nose in hover because I didn't use this principle.

Im using G3.5, my computer it is too jumpy (slow frame rate) on G4.5, but I've got a new gfx card so I might try g4.5 in it again, if I can find the disk or remember who I gave it to. But the damned thing takes for ever to install with all the the add-on's and extras. Do you think it's worth
bothering to upgrade to G.4.5 from G3.5?

That trick of yours sounds like an idea, but I've chatted with plenty of people online when flying Realflight, and they do stuff that amazes me, but they say they would not really do it in real life. I get your point however, I'll keep it mind and and practice it.

What I do in real life if I'm flying in street out the front of home and a car comes (which seems to happen 30 seconds after I take off EVERY DAMNED TIME, and freaks me out, I try to fly up high (30-40 ft) to let the car pass, then land straight 'ahead' in what ever direction I was going at the time or go into hover. Half the time the dickhead driver will slow down or stop under the heli, which freaks me out more, because all I want to do is get on the ground without them running it over or me heading off into a tree or power lines! Power lines piss me of the most, it's hard to judge the distance to them. Crashed to them twice now. (Rotten things should be underground!)

Half my problem is that I grew up flying Mode 1, which I think is dumb, but that's how most people fly in Australia so I'm suck with it. I've tried Mode 2, but just can't get the hang of it.

What on-line name do you use when playing Realflight? I might see you online sometime. I use the same name as I use here. If you ever see a host running called Aussie 3D, join that in that, I could be there. I normally fly at, now let me calculate this...3pm-6pm GMTime.

-Bill!

helifan06,
The cheaper lipos that everyone are buting are at Hobbycity. They have several brands of good low priced batteries. I am using the Zippy Rhinos and haven't been able to kill them!

on Realflight you are always few more steps ahead. The reason is because you don't afraid of crashing, so you are more risky. Most crashes in real life could happen when you lost orientation and become nervous.

I can do flips, inverted tail in, inverted nose in, pyros, loops, rolls, backward figure 8s, in RealFlight, haven't gone that far live.

my nick is hayashi, but recently I haven't have time to be online.

cool huey, I will check them out, I need 2 3S for my TREX600, I can interchange them when flying my 450

I have 5 of the zippy 2200mh 3s 25c. I get 7-8 minutes of easy flying from them on my trex 450 and copterx 450..And still have 45% of the battery left, per my cell-pro charger. Been using them since April. For less than $20 each, can't go wrong.

Yeah, I generally get the Turnigy 2200mAh, or whatever is in stock at right price and what I can afford at the time.
Now that the connectors, well I just make converters for whatever is needed.

My thunder power batttery is behaving strange. When it is fully charged, the heli in iddle1 starts whoble its tail, like the battery is low. After few minutes in the air, the whobble is gonne, and it seems to be full power.

Someone experience this before?

Could be that the RPMs are high enough to cause the gyro to be too sensitive until you burn off some voltage. My Zippy Rhinos do that.

Seems to make sense, but I was suspecting that the ESC has something to do with it. Besides the wooble on the tail, the head speed fluctuates as well....
