My ST G2300 w/ Bisson Pitts muffler turns APC 18x6W @ 8500 RPM, on 5% nitro or 15% nitro, no difference.

It's about 500 rpm weaker than OS 160 FX, and 500 rpm stronger than Saito 150, about the same as Saito 180 on 15% nitro.

Wow, for an engine that is half the price of the 1.60FX that sounds pretty good! I look forward to my own trials...

So, nobody else has needed (tried?) to extend the needle on this (or other ST) engine? I thought I would get a million responses of "obvious" answers!

I went down that road on a 3250 with carb switching a few years ago. It did solve all the problems but right now, my 2300 has about 20ish flights on it and I have no problems at all other than the machining thing but the performance is still very good. Good all around engine. You can prop it for speed, 3d or general sport flying.

I'm running a 18-6w APC on my Goldberg Sukhoi. I've got a little over 1 gallon thru it, and it runs excellent. I'm using a Bison Pitts muffler with a Perry pump. The carb is very easy to tune, and I've had no problems at all. For the money, you can't beat this engine.

For the P-47, I'd say use a 4-bladed prop, just like the real thing. Bolly makes a 15.5 x 12W 4-blade that the ST 2300 may just swing it (near its upper-end load)

Carbon Fiber, black, correction: 15.5 x 12.5 4-blade
I think it's like $67

1.) It's CF It will stand up to more than wood and Nylon.... I'vee seen some planes go in from high and the CF prop be unscathed.

2.) APC's are heavy and the engine will not spool up as fast as it's capable of.

You'll like the CF better

Graupner-(spelling is off, maybe) sells some 3 blades that look good. don't know about the 4 blades.
check out the RCU Review of the Hangar 9 Corsair (electric). It's got one of these and it's the best looking 3 blade i've seen that is reasonably priced.
2 months ago i picked up a 2300 for a TopFlite 60 sized corsair. Probaly won't be done 'til spring.

Mr. Bigg,

Have you fired up your ST yet?

marioa_qg

I had an APC 18X6W on my 1.40... While it spun good rpms and idled real low.. It wouldn't spool up as fast as this engine is capable of.. I for one would really advise against APC props for any 2 stroke bigger than about 1.0 CI.. Also I believe I heard some talk of the bigger APC's being weak and after so many hours getting stress lines (white makrs caused by stress) and the people were having to replace them... A 2 Blad wood prop would be good.. but wouldn't look good at all... The CF prop is a piece of art.. Runs good and is also a more effcient airfoil. I think one would look awesome on that P-47! I've attached a couple pics of Mej. to show you. The Ultra Stick is mine and the 40%er belongs to the SHowme Airkings
