Hi, everyone; I just got me an Ultimate 40S from Worldmodels. A buddy of mine flies one with a Saito 56. Flies great but could use a bit more power in vertical. So I decided to put my Saito 72 in it. At the LHS I was told I should have unlimited vertical with that engine. W'll see. Anybody here with the same palne? One thing I don't like too much: Only one servo for four ailerons. On the other hand, the ailerons are small. Overall quality is good, built very beefy, not necessarily the lightest plane in its class. Any input is appreciated!

A buddy of mine just put one together and we maidened it Thursday night. He installed a Saito 82, heck with the manufacturers warnings, and it had plenty of power. Thottle management is a MUST! It doesn't like to pull a loop because engine torque rolls the plane hard left if you give it any throttle at all and low rate aileron is not enough to correct it. I did a snap roll with it and the hs-81 broke a gear but I was able to get it down ok. Metal Gear servos would be highly recommended if using the 81s or similar.

I reckon he used two of them, one for each pair of ailerons.

I'm not sure, but I believe he said it only uses one servo for the ailerons. I personally would have used two.

sounds like a good flyin plane Im ordering one tommorow, going to put an 0.S 46 AX, If thats not enough power I will probably put a saito 91 in it the 46 should be enough.

Hey, planetwister; A Saito 91 is way too much power and weight up front for this plane. The max. engine size is a Saito 72, believe me. Don't go overboard with redundant motor power. The 72 gives you unlimited vertical.

JUST ORDERED MINE. iT SHOULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR MY YS 63. AND BY THE WAY WHY WOULD ANYONE USE HS-81 SERVOS FOR CONTROL SURFACE IN A 40 SIZE MODEL? TO EACH IS OWN I GUESS[&:]

My bud just baught this plane. he is planing on putting a Magmum 52 in it. He has a saito 72 just sitting around. Is yours still together or did you rip it up with the saito 72?

at low speeds i am only 14 but flying for 9 years looking for a update from my uproar dos it like to stall how fast are rols. i herd it was like a 40 size 3-d is it and would a 40 have enuf power to huver

I'm new to this addiction. I Have an almost done 40S w/saito 72. From all reviews read, this plane should be excellent to fly. I have found 2 reviews that point out CG differences compared to the manuals 3.74. One review states 3 inches from upper wing tip, another says 3.2. I also have a shuttle 30/50 evolution-37 OS-GY401/S9254,JR770PCM. T-REX-XL w/many upgrades. The planes just looks awesome with True turn polished spinner.

Mine flies great with a Magnum .52 RFS in front.

I had (yes had) an ultimate 40s that had a Saito 72. It flew well under power. It was on the heavy side at 5 pounds, 7 ounces dry. The heavies was due to my over use of epoxy. Be very sure of how much time the included ~9 ounce fuel tank will provide with a larger engine. Also be sure to keep the plane as light as possible to help out your glide in a dead stick landing.

Does anyone have a set of wing incidence templates. Mine did not come with a set and its going to take a month to get them from back order. Willing to pay. Thanks, Lloyd

does any one have an incedent meter they could put on the top wing an tell me what it reads I have installed a pro 46 with a slimline inverted muffler the tubes on the muffler were so long that i had to cut them an when i did there was not enough muffler pressure to the tank couldn't get the engine rich enough so i put wheel collars inside the muffler tubes to supply restriction now the engine tunes great am hoping to fly her once i can get the decathlage set

My Ultimate 40 was flown with a Saito 56, vertical beyond scale, not unlimited but pleasant. Left torque on TOff was most unpleasant aspect. had misgivings about sgl svo on Ail, gave < 45 deg deflection, but that works well. Will do svo bays in lower wing next time. Ended up w/ HT 635 to get it. Ended up w/ 5625 on rudder for smooth control. Will snap as long as you hold it there. Wing decaloge at 1/2 neg deg, dead sticks were quite good, but quick. Flat spins exelent, better inverted, but would take almost 2 revos to straighten out.

The higher torque of the Saito is probably exacerbating the left roll at TOFF. I get some with the .46, but it is a very gentle left roll. Left YAW is another matter. I get a lot of that at runup. ... Short tail moment....
