MOTUL MICRO 2T

My local motorcycle shop stocks this oil, a synthetic specifically made by the French lubrication specialist MOTUL for our two and four stroke model engines.

I was thinking of trying it. Does anyone have any experience with MOTUL MICRO? If so, how does it compare to Morgans CoolPower, or Klotz KL 200 Techniplate, which I normally use?

Thanks to all (any?) who reply to this query.

Check posts by "JAKA". He imports MVVS engines to Sweeden and seems to have very good experiences with this oil.

If it's used by Jan, the swedish importer for MVVS, it must be good !

I'll buy a couple of litres and give it a go.

Thanks

Just checked with my friendly local MOTUL distributor ...

MOTUL MICRO isn't being imported into Australia any more due to lack of demand!

A pity, it sounds like a good product. I am aware of Motul's reputation from using their bike lubricants. I have found their oils to be first rate stuff without exception.

Hi again

how much oil (motul-micro) do you put in your fuel?
I hear something about just 15% and nothing else.
Due to I'm living in Europe, nitro is very expensive and hard to find,so my mix will be with no nitro. should I higher the oil content to have a better cooling effect?
or is this sufficient with that oil?

I'm asking because in my previous mixes I used 15% Castor oil,no nitro, and the engines are getting a little too hot.

thanks
Paris

Well ....

Guess what ....

After bending the ear of the owner at my local motorcycle shop he has "pushed" the Motul importer here in Australia, and they advise that theyare going to get another crate of MICRO in, due to my enquiry.

So, eventually (when the shipment arrives) I will be able to try this product. I expect I will use it at the same percentages I use other synthetics - for me, 20% 2 strokes and 4 strokes.

I live in hot climate, so I don't use low oil fuel, it's just too risky. I have never had a motor wear out it's piston & liner fit.

Fiery,
I have just stsrted using this oil having previously used Cool Power at 18% + castor at 2%.I am very pleased with it.It apparently has the temperature tolerance of castor but with all of the benefits of synthetics (according to the Motul tech notes ).The % used is 20%.As long as this oil is available I'll use it.As an added bonus it leaves an almost clear residue. The current engine used is an OS 140 RX.
I'll add the following for information only as I have mixed my own fuel for a long time & try to use the best components to eliminate as many potential problems as possible but although it is a little more expensive medicinal quality methanol ( used for histopathogoly ) is as pure as you can get with no additives as per the methanols from the oil companies.

Picked up 2 x 2 litre packs of Motul Micro from my local motocycle shop today.

Most Motorcycle shops (in Australia at least) stock MOTUL lubricants and should be happy to get some in if your LHS doesn't want to know.

It's not cheap though $AUS 120- for 4 litres (Just over 1 US gallon).

Silver, have you been successful in getting some. If so, what did you pay?

Just back on the mix your own bandwagon after ordering/pricing ingredients.

Motul Micro 2l $AUS 55.00
Shell A 20l $AUS 50.58

The scary one was the price of Ether @ $AUS30.00 for 1/2 litre. Anyone else mixing diesel in Australia. Where do you get your ether from?

Thanks,

last time I bought it was from Ajax chemicals, a 20 litre drum of the stuff which I split with some diesel freak mates.

very expensive (about $400 delivered) but the maths worked on a per litre basis.

Make sure you ask for GPR (technical) grade - cheaper than the medicinal grade and for our purposes just as good.

t driver,

i am living in europe too, and i know how dificult is to find components for fuel making. However,
it is not so important to put nitro in fuel. it does give better performances and gives more power,
but i prefer to put little bigger engine than nitro. nitro makes that your fuel burns better but also makes
bigger explosions in cylinder and as a result of that your motor dies faster. also if motor is weak you can get
some more performance from it with nitro. in america they do not consider because they can buy quality motors starting from 50$
and you have tu pay for it in europe 100 Euro.

so, in my 2T os max 46 a am using 20% castor oil and 80% metyle.
in 4T it is not reccomending to put castor oil and for 4T i am using
15% motul micro, 3%castor oil and 80% metane.

best regards
i

WOW old thread 2003 ???

Agree with what you say and also ~3% acetone can help for tick over similar to ~5% nitro but dosen't help for power increase
However for oil I use EDL from the LHS but only ~12% and no Castor
For sports fuel 0% nitro from the LHS and for a bit of oomph ~5% nitro does the job

I used to use Motul 15% with no Castor no issues but that was a few years back

This is one of maybe two places I found that has it. I have not purchased any. I did buy some of the stuff that Coopers was selling which is claimed to be just as good. I haven't run any yet.

Cooperfuels is gone. This is the oil they sold.

http://www.splube.com/products/avenger.htm

They are not forthcoming with details. And supposedly the oil doesn't have an anti-corrosion package, but don't quote me on that, I didn't find out until after I bought it. The mix used by a reputable source was 2% castor, 10% avenger, balance methanol. Engines last forever and with the castor corrosion isn't a problem. The price is right and it's an ester based oil like the Micro2T.

That sucks. Maybe he should update his Dossier on here then. It still shows links that are non-existant.
